My brother and I came across this place back in August of 2015 and it was a great find. They have a nice selection of small batch stuff they have done and it’s very solid. They even have a few guest taps. Service was great, friendly and knowledgeable.

Trendy spot. Standoffish service. Beers are decent.

Sometimes it only takes one thing to ruin a good place. The location and space is trendy and hip without being too pretentious. Service was horrible. It was slow, pretentious and reminded us of how they were doing us a favor. Just a sour experience. Selection of the beer was decent, beer quality was OK with a few standing out but mostly mediocre. I won’t be back, but maybe I was just there at a bad time.

Very cool brewpub in redone strip. Lots of beer on tap and a few guests. 5 ounce pours available. Lovely space inside. My new favorite place in Indy.

Smallish place with a large tall bar, a group of tables and a small patio. Eleven of their own beers on tap, each one better than the next. We did a flight of everything. Then we noticed the bottle list - Chimay Doree for six bucks? yes please. Server was friendly, engaging and knowledgeable, and did a great job covering all the tables plus the patio. I hope his mom bring him good beers back from DC, o/w I’ll send him some. Food looked good but we had just eaten, so I’ll have to return for that. Terrific place, worth going out of your way to try.

One of the best places to get a brilliant beer in Indy. The food is fantastic, and the rotating of food trucks and offering of sunday brunch only adds to it’s awesomness. They constantly change up the list, so it’s pretty much impossible to have just ONE favorite from this place. Justin and the guys are going places- this is just their stepping stone to bigger things.

Small brewpub in a strip mall. Quiet and relaxing pub (at least when I was there). Nice selection of their beers with a few guest taps. Not much competition in the area but still a nice stop - only a few miles off East 465 and I-70. Extra parking in the back.

(Visited 05/2014): Black Acre is located on E Washington Street east of downtown. Street parking is available in front of the building, and there is a lot in back.

There is a patio in front of the brick building, and inside the bar is on the left and there is table seating on the right. Woven wooden staves make up the walls and ceiling, and there are hanging lights made out of cut growlers. The wraparound bar features a black marble top and a board behind it listing the available beers.

Black Acre has around 18 taps, with 12 of them being house beers. On my visit this included Audobon Alt, a Braggot, Thirsty Reasons Kölsch, a couple IPAs, a Wit and Phantom Cat Foreign Stout. All of the beers were above average, and samplers are available. Guest taps are available as well from breweries like North Coast, Victory and Stone.

Service at the bar was good. The bartenders were friendly and knowledgeable about the beers.

I did not have food on this visit.

Overall Black Acre is a solid brewpub to visit in the Indianapolis area.

Stopped by with the Mrs. this past weekend and was glad I did. The atmosphere, service, and selection were all good. I didn’t eat, but they have a limited menu, and apparently a food truck comes by one night a week as well. Worth a stop if you’re in the area.
