64 I’m a bit torn in regards to this shop. On one hand, they carry a lot of beer and some of it is hard to get. But some of that beer is old... really old. I can buy beer here from a place that has been out of business for two years, and some of it is IPA and other stuff that is not going to taste like beer anymore. I come here once in a while, but it is not a place to expect much from. |
60 Greatly exaggerated score on the store, beer is in the back, its not as organized as I would like equiring much reaching to the lowr shelves and floor for American micros. A few high raters, but mostly the standard stuff. However a couple of points for stocking some regular O’Fallons and the like. Prices are good, but not as good on the mediocre important offerings to be competitive. Long lineup to pay, it was ineffiient as they had to call out codes to pay - how about bar scanning? This place is maturing, and good but far from the best beer stores in Cleveland. |
78 A lot of past reviews seemed to complain about the organization, but I was pretty happy with the selection and organization of this place. everything is available in singles. I came here indifferent between buying something or nothing at all. I ended up buying 24 beers- 21 of which I never had before and aren’t available in indiana. It’s kind of in the middle of nowhere, but if you are in the area I would recommend stopping by. |
64 small to moderate sized beer and wine shop. Not bad if you are in the area. They certainly have more than any grocery store. a little cluttered. |
66 Based on a recommendation by crizay I went into here after lunch at the Brew Kettle. The selection was decent but some of the beers seem to have been on the shelf for quite a while. There were still bottles of Dreadnaught, Alpha Klaus and Brian Boru which must date to last year. Otherwise the prices seemed reasonable and almost everything was available as singles.
I might stop in here again just on the off chance they still have some Mikkeler left. If you are in the area and want to kill some time stop by. Otherwise drive down the road to Cornerstone - you’ll have done something more interesting. |
76 I just visited this spot for the first time in about 10 years, I left happy. I bought real nice beers that I’ve had a desire for and will go back for a few others I was eyeing up. The beer was organized in a logical manner but you can notice which ones just sit (but that can be a very good thing). The people who work there seemed friendly and even set a few things aside for me. |
60 A decent selection of craft beer. The shelves are organized by country, but even that is a little haphazard. I found a couple of gems when I was there the other day. Worth a stop if you’re in the area, but not worth a special trip. |
66 I used to go to Southland all the time when we moved into our first house. It was 10 minutes from my house and I would go every 10 days to 2 weeks and leave spending 30-40 bucks. I agree w/ Drew, their selection went from outstanding, to okay in a matter of about 3 years. Nothing new comes out on their shelves and stuff that doesn’t move...doesn’t move. You think they could at least dust them once in a while. They used to be considered one of the best in the area in my mind, now I can think of 5 other places I’d rather go. The good thing is that if you saw it there once, it would probably still be there the next time you go in. The staff is friendly, but I think the beer is taking a back seat to the wine and liquor parts of the store. |
56 I’ve been in here numerous times. 2 years ago, they had a great selection of micros and imports. All available in both 6pack and singles. The problem I see is that 2 years later, many of those same bottles are sitting on the shelf. I’ve never gotten any kind of service here, despite asking questions and trying to show an interest in what they’re selling. I stop in at least once every 2-3 months and almost always leave disappointed. |
90 Nice local beverage store. Owner has been there for years. a picked over selection is the rare. Always something good, last visit had 14+ of the top 50. Also has beer in the cooler. |
