Holy cheese, Batman! A cool little old Swiss feeling cottage pub with a small bar and small dining area, but they move people through pretty well, even when its busy. Service was great, friendly and attentive, didn’t really test the beer knowledge, but why would you get anything but New Glarus here, of which all of their taps except on were that. Food is awesome, had a cheese fondue that would have been enough food for 4 people, but then we decided to get friend cheese curds and schnitzel, all of which were great. I recommend it for lunch or dinner if you’re stopping by the brewery in the town.

Four visits over the last three years, most recently in May - and a few more going back to the 90s. Classic "Olde World" charm in the narrow copper-topped bar and wood-walled and floored back restaurant room, the charm is the most notable aspect here. Not that the rest is too shabby, but the food - Swiss/German entrees and sandwiches - is good, not spectacular. The beer? Oh, the beer? You want to know about the beer they’ve got? Why, they’ve got everything - Bud, Miller AND Coors! Nah, just kidding, I think it’s all New Glarus, and it rotates some. They’ve always had one of the extraordinary fruit beers on tap, and you can’t get those everywhere even in southern Wisconsin within an hour of the brewery. Last time is was Raspberry Tart, the time before that Synchronicity (the only time I’ve found that one on tap). Prices are reasonable for the beer and the sizable sandwiches; entrees are pretty expensive and enormous, if you want to be a glutton. IMO if you’re in New Glarus to eat you’re just as well off going to Cow & Quince for lunch, but this is the place to go for beer and ambiance.

Swiss charm, good food and New Glarus on tap. Quite busy on a Friday afternoon. They had the Cranbic on tap plus many other New Glarus beers. Once there, you should order the rosti. So delicious.

(Visited 08/2014): Glarner Stube is located on 1st Street in downtown New Glarus. Street parking is available in the surrounding blocks.

The interior is cozy, opening to the bar area, with table seating beyond. Traditional Swiss family restaurant feel to the decor, and a nice collection of old New Glarus bottles behind the bar.

The restaurant features 10 taps, all New Glarus, including Raspberry Tart.

Service at the bar for an early Friday dinner was great. The bartender was courteous and personable throughout our visit.

Food at Glarner Stube is good. My friend and I enjoyed our Meatball and Sausage entrees respectively.

All in all this is a cool little spot to visit near the brewery.

Street parking, but was not an issue. Stopped in here on a late sunday afternoon for a late lunch. Walked right in a got a table, although it was kind of crowded. It was only about a third full when we left at 3:30 or so. The waitress was at our table pretty quickly and once we had ordered, our food took about 15 minutes. They only had New Glarus on tap and it was moslty the regular lineup with a couple seasonals. We used our free taster from the brewery here, and got two six ounce glasses. It was cool to have Moon Man on tap. Stuck to water afterward though, as we had a pretty long drive ahead of us. The food was swiss and was pretty good. Massive quantities and you paid for it. $60+ for two meals. Unfortunately the leftovers we took ended up not being very good. Much better fresh. I ended up throwing the leftovers away. Probably wouldn’t stop in again.

Old bar feel with back room for dining. Great if you’re looking for New Glarus brews on tap, obviously. Plenty of regular and seasonal selection. Must say, I did quite enjoy the food there. Friendly staff.

Stopped here for dinner after my New Glarus Brewery visit. Old school vibe inside. Bar area in front and homey feel in the restaurant in the back. Crowded on a Sunday evening with a lot of locals. Sadly the food was kinda boring and bland, though the soup was very tasty. The server didn’t tell me that some of my vegetables fell off the plate until about 20 minutes after I was served so I was left wondering why the presentation looked like crap for a while. Servers were very friendly though. Downtown location so there’s street parking, but I had no problem. Oh yeah, there’s 8 New Glarus taps at all time. So that’s a win. Belgian Red and Raspberry Tart in bottles. I had a Raspberry Tart which was also on draft and a Coffee Stout. Pricy food. You get a ton but given the quality its still overpriced. Then again, most pints are $4 and if you visit the brewery you get a coupon for half off a pint, so you’ll make up some of the cost on beer.

Well, im going to give this place a very high rating based on the fact they have 8 new glarus taps, great service, friendly staff and very reasonable. I had 3 7oz samples for $7, which i find to be a very good deal. The bartenders and locals that are there were very friendly. beers were fresh and very tasty! have a really cool collection of vintage NG bottles at the top of the bar-brought back some memories.

More New Glarus brews on tap than the brewery, food looked good, though I didn’t have any. Staff was friendly and helpful. Decor was mostly NG breweriana and copper plate. Neat little bar, definitely making a return visit in the future.
