Burgatory - Waterworks Mall

I want to like this place. The vibe is awesomely hip so there’s lots of good looking people hanging out who, unfortunately, don’t seem to know much about the beer. The food is fantastic. The burger choices are infinite. The shakes are a meal in themselves. They have 10-12 taps of local craft which were main,y solid. They have same craft bottles as well but they’re more obvious. The service was really hit and miss and they committed one of the biggest sins you can commit by having wait and bar staff hang out at the bar when they weren’t working. In fact the bartender on my shift decided she wanted to eat her dinner on the bar stool right next to mine which is odd and does not make you feel like you’re a valued customer. I think I’ll pass.

Ambiance is a bit squished, dark, but new and vibrant, pretty much always busy. Service is mixed for me because i’ve had some really good servers here, and some really bad ones. Selection, isnt huge, but they usually have stuff on that i dont see anywhere else. Food is just amazing. Cannot find a better burger in pittsburgh, although it can get expensive customizing, and the beer prices are a bit steep as well. Worth having a beer while you’re there, but come food the food, not the beer, it’s definitely worth it.

Now, if this was really a pgh inspired place, would in not be spelled burghatory? Tucked back into a hidden corner of the waterworks strip buiseness district. Interesting atmosphere, fire shooting out of things all around the dining area, protected in large glass tubes but still an eye catcher. Nice rack of about 10 taps of mostly recognizable beers. Pretty crowded on a sunday afternoon. Did not see any bottles or a bottle menu. Did not have any food but my mouith was watering from the smell.

Awesome burger place. Beef, bison, chicken, or veggie options. Good apps. Nice tap selection and a good range of bottled beers. Hard milkshakes are a big treat.
