Small sports-themed craft beer bar in Astoria, Quuens. 24 brews on tap, friendly bartender, 20 or so small tables, nothing very special but a nice neighborhood bar. Liked the place

At the time of the rating, easily the best tap lists in Astoria (counting Alewife as LIC) over the previous 5 years. Selection is a bit below what you can get in Manhattan and Brooklyn, but it’s an extensive tap list covering a variety of styles. Has had everything from local Chelsea to Hill Farmstead here.

Discovered this place by chance after a visit to the Museum of the Moving Image. 26 taps of eclectic selection...hey, I’ll stay and have a few. Service was friendly, patrons also, a few TVs with sports (no sound, just good music playing). Everything is 6$ (so volume varies). Free samples if you ask nicely. Overall, a good place.

Corner spot in a rapidly gentrifying area. A single small bar area with lots of light coming in from the windows. Extensive brewerania cover the walls. A bit cramped inside with high chairs that kind of block easy bar access. A solid tap list with some new stuff rotating in from time to time. Service was okay if a little gruff when I was in - although having the keg kick the last dregs of the only beer I wanted was an experience I could have done without. Still, it’s probably the best beer spot in this area and you could do a whole lot worse.

I dig all the beer signs and memorabilia, but the lights have been too bright every time I’ve gone. The service is hit or miss, friendly but never above and beyond or worthy of 20%. The selection is incredible, 25 beers on tap? I’d be one hell of an elitist if I complained about the selection, however, prices on bottles are a little ridiculous. Three Philosophers $22 dollars? Come on. Also I’ve had pints which are mostly glass and about 8 ounces of beer for $8 dollars and many that have been poured only 3 quarters of the way. I have no problem paying for quality, go ahead and charge me 10 or 12 but give me a decent pint, or note on the menu its 10 or 8 ounces. That said, the food is hit or miss, but above average for a pub.

A clean, neighborhood pub with above average pub fare. Prices on the food offerings are good, but the beer can sometimes be a bit high, but it really all depends on what you order. Taps can be interesting one day and completely boring the next. Taps do change often. However, as others have mentioned, the (albeit friendly) bartenders know nothing about beer....nothing. I go here because of location more than anything. It’s a good place to stop for a pint or three when good music is playing and they’re not too crowded.

Corner location with some exposed brick in the interior. Friendly and attentive bartender- I won’t complain that they didn’t know beer at all, because we can’t always expect that. The line-up is average craft- nothing too crazy. I stopped in October 1st and they had a bunch of Oktoberfests up from various microbreweries such as Stoudt’s and Ramstein. Not a place to go out of the way for, but definitely a welcome establishment in the beer wasteland of Queens.

I had a good time tonight. Sunswick has great selection and I had a variety of beers. I did not eat any of the food. The atmosphere was nice. Enough tables so as not to be crowded but small enough to have a nice, communal environment. My only complaint is that the bartender would not serve me in 1/2 pints. I wanted to sample more beers rather than pounding pints. I know they had 1/2 pints because I saw him serve it to another customer. That courtesy was not extended to me and I remain a bit bitter. But overall a positive experience.

As far as I can tell this was a neighborhood bar that took a liking to having some good beer on tap, And they have some pretty good beer on tap.26 in all.Taps rotate very often. A sample of what can typically be found are Captain Lawrence, Stone, Avery, Chimay, Green Flash,Blue Point, Six Points, Troegs, St. Bernardus,Delirium etc. Their bottle selection is very limited and inconsistent. You won’t find anything rare here, but you will find some good micros and some good belgians. Prices are a bit above the average of the established beer bars. The food is typical bar food, burgers, wings, wraps, and sandwiches. It is okay. The burgers are pretty good, and so are some of the sandwiches. As for the atmosphere, there are 5 or 6 large tv’s,a some video games, and a few couch seating areas. It definitely has a neighborhoody feel to it. A casual relaxed place. Staff are somewhat knowledgeable about the beer. In my opinion they think they more about it than they actually do. But they are fairly friendly. I wouldn’t exactly call this place a destination, but as far as beer bars in Queens go, I can’t think of a place that rivals this as far as number of taps and quality of beer.
