Smallish place dominated by a big bar. Nice open front. Handful of bar tables. Got crowded during trivia night, otherwise quiet. Great staff. Novel concept of offering base beers made with two to three different yeasts, available as flights or any combo of four ounce pours. Terrific staff. Very tasty food truck. Well worth a visit.

So, this place is a little bit difficult to rate as it is neither a normal tasting room nor a real brewery. White Labs is, of course, one of the pillars of the American homebrew and craftbeer revolution. The tasting room has direct view into one of their lab spaces and regular tours are offered. The beer on tap is moslty to showcase the influence of different yeasts on the same wort. There are up to 4 different yeasts on the same wort on tap. In my opinion, the selection is great because you really cannot get these beers anywhere else but it’s not your typical whale-hunting trip... There is also quite a bit of merchandise for sale and homebrewers can pick up yeast as well. The ambiance of the tap room is great, very friendly and knowledgeable bar staff. If you are on a trip to the nearby breweries, make sure to give White Labs a try.

this place would get a lot of mileage from me if I lived in the area. Nice little set up, and a beer geeks dream of side by sides galore. I’m not a brewer, but really appreciate single malt/hop/yeast series stuff, so this is right up my alley. Friendly service and decent prices.

Beer Nerd Heaven. Try the same beer pitched with four different yeasts. The cellar is cool, if you take a tour, the fermenters are all five barrel, stacked double high so they can split the 20 barrel brewhouse four ways. Service was great, friendly and super knowledgeable. Beer wasn’t that great, but a really cool place to stop.

This is a homebrewers dream come true with all types of yeasts to try. I took the tour with some solid insight into yeast production. I loved trying all types of yeast in the brews, it’s educational. The brews are average but it’s about the yeasts and what they do for the beers. Great stop White Labs, I’ll be Back.

I rather enjoyed visiting White Labs, despite it being right at closing. The bar tender indicated it was last call but served us as if there were hours left, which made us feel right at home. It is nice to be able and sample the same recipe using multiple yeasts, so I see this as a regular stop, particularly once the new brew system is online. This is one of the better San Diego stops.

Visited on a Tuesday afternoon. It’s located in an industrial park near lots of other RB places and breweries. The tasting room is really well done with probably about 10-12 seats at the bar and some tables around the small/medium space. They have some plaques on the wall explaining yeast culturing and giving bio’s on people like Pasteur and Leeuwenhoek. Pretty interesting. There’s even a window that gives you a peek into the lab. It almost has a museum feel to it in that corner of the room. There’s usually about 5-6 different beers on tap, but several different versions of each (different yeast strains of course) which give them close to 30 unique beers at a time. I enjoyed trying the different Saison strains and was surprised at how different some of the common ale strains were. Very informative if you’re a homebrewer or hard core beer geek. The service was pretty good, but unfortunately, the beers were a tad below average. I would definitely go back just for the fact that you do learn a lot about yeast here, which I guess is the main point.

White labs is for the ultimate beer dork experience. They make flights of beer that use the same malt and hop recipe but with different types of yeast. Among other beers, these flights included a Porter flight, a Milk Stout flight, a Saison flight, and a Wit flight, each with four different styles of yeast. It is truly amazing how different the beers can be just because of the yeast. Also, the lighting was really cool. I could definitely see that if you bring someone here who isn’t really into beer they could be frustrated and say "they all taste the same, wtf". But if you like beer at all, you MUST visit here. It’s also up in Miramar - home to many different awesome breweries. You can make a great afternoon out of beer touring, and this must be a stop.

Visited the 10th February with a friend - The place is near to Green Flash brewery. When I was there, White labs is redoing is labs so we can’t visit the place. We tried the taproom. Nice taproom on a industrial style. The place is made to taste the yeast and compare them. There are flights yeast style and this is a great initiation for the yeast taste. Price is ok and the selection is just only batch with different yeast. The service is nice and people friendly. Good place if you want to upgrade your yeast level.
