Healthy Spirits - Castro

It's small and not in a place you're likely to be but the selection is extremely well curated. They even had Xyauyu here (2010 barrel), which is how I determine a truly top notch beer place. Worth checking out if you're into a really eclectic mix of local rarities and outside of the ordinary foreign beers.

Exquisite selection of bottles, quite a lot of rate stuff (e.g. Old Stock Ale ranging between 2012 - 2017). Very friendly and helpful staff. Not the cheapest place, but ok for SF.

Stopped by to pick up a few bottles after a nice walk through the adjacent districts of Haight-Ashbury and Castro. Good bottle shop atmosphere and an impressive selection of rarities. Prices are a bit steep for some of the more exclusive beers, especially rare Sours, but that is hardly exclusive to Healthy Spirits. Overall I found the prices to be fair. A must stop for bottles if you’re in the area.

Very nice selection, especially some hard to find beers. Will definitely visit the shop again when I’m in SF next time.

Small store, half mile from brothers home: very good selection of regional (state) breweries, Alaskan Midnight sun and main breweries from Oregon.

Small upscale corner store with a strong selection of bourbon and craft beers. Not heavily state beers but a strong selection of regional stuff like a 50/50 eclipse variant for them, and lots of Midnight Sun. Prices are a bit high. Service was very knowledgable and offered good suggestions. I wouldn’t go out of my way to stop by, but if in the area its worth a visit.

Stopped by twice when I was on vacation. Well stocked with about 5-6 fridges and another 3-4 racks filled with beer. Staff consists of major beer geeks so they know their stuff. Parking is a bit of a pain as it’s off a popular street from the Castro. Prices are run of the mill, nothing out of the ordinary or over priced. Good place if you want to pick up beers from the local area.

cool place I stumbled onto by happy accident years ago. Nice ecclectic beer selection, as well as spirits and cigars. probably the most knowlegable staff in the city.
