Great place to buy beer in SoMA. Larger than average whole foods with a nice beer case. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Lots of local beer to choose from. Similar to other Whole Foods but if you’re in the area, you owe it to yourself to see if there’s anything interesting.
Nice Whole Foods with some of the better beers in the area. The clerk knew all about the beer scene and was eager to talk about it or help with selection. Parking, like most places in SF, was a little weird with the parking garage making it somewhat difficult to get in.
Excellent selection of mostly Cali beers, including the likes of Russian River, Almanac, Knee Deep and so forth. Prices are average, and customer service is friendly as always for Whole Foods. Not really any reason to go out of your way to get here, but if in the area, it’s worth popping in.

This is a large store in crowded San Francisco, near the Moscone Center. I was very surprised by both how much real estate they have as well as how much beer they carry. This might be the most impressive Whole Foods that I’ve been to in terms of beer. Russian River, Firestone, Logsdon, Lagunitas, New Belgium, Sierra Nevada, Drakes, Anchor, Lost Abbey, Bruery, Boulevard, Knee Deep, Port, Ballast Point, AleSmith, Stone, Maui, Oskar Blues, Allagash, the list goes on. Prices were a bit high, service was non-existent but that’s fine. Pretty standard for a Whole Foods in most regards but the beer. Since I do occasionally have business in the area I’ll be stopping back in at some point for sure.
For a supermarket it’s the goods. Great selection of beer - fresh Pliny, Logdsons, JP’s, Almanac and heaps more. Reasonable pricing. Dude stocking shelf had good knowledge and sounded like he’d tried ’em all. Convenient to grab a snack too!
Stopped in on a walking tour around the hotel. I know some of the SF Whole Foods have a pretty impressive selection, but I was not expecting much. Imagine my surprise when Peche and Brett was staring at me from the shelves. All in all a pretty impressive selection, if a little tighter on space than say, the Potorero Hill store. I was more impressed with the selection here than at City Beer. Check it out.
This was my local beer store when living in SF. I’d stop here after work and grab a bottle of whatever. It’s technically close to most touristy things you’d do in SF so no reason not to stop in. The bike shop next door is where I bought my first bike and they’re great as well (extra local tidbit :)
