Right in downtown basically. A really cool decor, sort of 50s crazy. Gives the vibe that partying is happening. Typical McMenamins food, some solid beer offerings. Most are made at Anderson School. Great service. Easy walk from the train.
Visited after dinner on a Tuesday. Located just across the highway from downtown on a busy corner in a cool older building. There is a nice patio up front as you approach, and inside is very much old school well work pub. Tons of wood and copper, long bar in the center of the room, and a bunch of tables scattered about in the main room, and a loft looking area above the bar. 15 house beers on draft, couple of hipster macro options. Of the 15 house beers, 4 or 5 seemed to be specials or seasonals. Service was efficient, didn’t eat. Interesting, but in a city like Seattle, there are so many more interesting options.
64 = ★★ (Just ok)
I only use the total score, not the component parts.
Visited afternoon on Thursday June 25, 2015. Walked up from Gordon Biersch, up a hill so in the hot weather and sun I was ready for a beer or so. Didn’t ask for a flight, instead only had two beers of smaller pour. Met another beer lover in there that was able to get flights of the beers, mainly since the staff wasn’t very busy. Not a big place, still not that many visiting at the same time as me. Has a small brew setup in the back, you can see it when going to the restrooms. Not a bad place.
When i go downtown to visit my tattoo friends, i NEVER fail to stop in for a beer or 2...service is fast with a Seattle screw you attitude (love it) and the freaking cook is the bomb...the servers may sound a little nasty but they are fast and efficient & always have a watchful eye on you...been going there for years & will always do a fly by when i am in the area...i have even taken my child there for snacks ;-)
Find a different place on Cap Hill, folks. Went on a Friday night and although slightly crowded, not enough so to justify the absolute rudeness of the staff. They slopped beer. They were irritated when asked for beers written on their availability menu, but apparently not actually available. They don’t know their beers. But tater tots are $1 after 10 pm so that’s something, and if you’ve already had some free gin and tonic the beers aren’t too disappointing.
