72 This is a large, quite modernised pub in the centre of Sheffield, now owned by Abbeydale Brewery and showcasing many of their beers. It feels a little like a shop front but there is certainly a good selection of beers. Well worth a visit. |
70 Modern styled pub and eatery with in a spacious setting and a central bar with its cask and keg options dotted around it. Had quite a few of the local Abbeydale brews on my visit. |
70 Not what I was expecting. Big modern tavern bar which, one first and second glances, it not terribly serious about good beer. But upon closure inspection close to 20 taps of high quality local / craft offerings will have to eat my beer nerd words. Actually a real surprise given the venue and vibe. I do prefer more traditional surroundings but you will not be disappointed with the beer range. |
76 Visited on trip to 24 northern counties with OGJ 04.01.18. Twelve ales on cask, all served without sparkler. Nicely designed modern interior. |
78 Modern looking pub, almost scandinavian, 5 HP and 20 kegs, more than acceptable. Well worth the visit. (Visited with Dave and Holmen 2) |
82 Very busy on the Saturday night i visited, open plan, large bar area, and great range of beers. Low levels of lighting, maybe I'm getting old! |
88 Decent selection on both cask & keg at this bar in studentland. They've moved the bar so that it's now a central island. Always a good few interesting Abbeydale beers on offer with a good range of guest beers. I've only visited midweek nights but always enjoyed my time there. Worth a visit |
72 Visited January 2017. A decent selection of beers, with the Abbeydale ones I tried being served in good condition. Prices were reasonable and service efficient. A good pub. |
86 a very variable experience. in the afternoons pleasant atmosphere and good service, but in the evening (especially around weekend) unpleasantly full and impossible to get served. I find it a useful place, as it’s somewhere I can drink with ’normals’ while still getting a decent British or foreign beer. foreign list long but ultimately a bit tame for those of us who travel abroad.
2016 update: now under Abbeydale ownership and a new manager, beer range much improved. More keg fonts, more interesting stuff going through them, and a more interesting bottle list. Caskwise the non-Abbeydale range can be hit and miss but always something decent on |
