Across the suspension bridge on the banks opposite the northern point of the Quarry park. This is an older building with a slightly more modern interior design, although its the riverside terrace that might appeal more in the summer months with splendid views across the River Severn from this leafy suburban part of the town. The cask ales are a half dozen mix of regular and guests including from local microbrewers.

Pleasant enough gastropub next to the river, near the north side of the Porthill footbridge, so a sensible route to return to the centre after the Bricklayers Arms. Didn't have any ticks for us, so didn't stay, but did have 4 real ales on from the 6 hand pulls.

We visited here Shrewsbury folk festival weekend Saturday 23rd August 2014, meeting with Guy & Sal and little one whose name I have temporarily forgotten. I thought the beer selection was pretty reasonable for what after all is a bit of a tourist trap pub, five or six handpumps as I recall in the back bar facing the river with at least a couple being Salopian and in very good nick. This is situated a short walk from town, straight over the bridge and up the slight incline to towards the blue gate and you are back in town. We sat at one of the tables by the river, not quite dodging one shower before we arrived. Other then go to the bar at the rear of the pub I really didn’t do much exploring as we were with friends. There are better pubs in town and this is a little bit foody and quite popular owing to its position, however if you are doing a riverside walk around Shrewsbury it is well worth popping in here.

Busy on sunny days: this riverside pub has a huge garden area that sits on the riverbank and it can be a real sun trap. Fairly large inside too, although as you walk in you’d never know, but it does open up once you’ve sqeeezed passed the bar area. Not the sort of place I’d have added on RB, but as it’s already here! It is on my Shrewsbury walkabout circuit during the summer months but I wouldn’t bring a real beer geeks to it unless they wanted to stretch their legs, as it is a fair walk from town and over the river by footbridge. Salopian beers often available: Oracle on my last two visits. Beer quality has never been an issue, slow staff has been. The place can get a bit ’foodie’ at times but I’ve never eaten here. The beer selection isn’t huge, three cask and the usual suspects on-tap and one or two well known bottles.

Nice traditional pub by the Severn with a very large beer garden. Decent pub grub with a selection of 3 cask ales on the day that I visited. Service although polite is a little slow and some staff seem indifferent.
