Main Street boozer. Definite pub feel to it. Fairly old school, but not too dingy. Atmosphere is fine. Beer selection wise, there’s a lot of hand pumps and quite a few kegs, but the selection, at least today, isn’t that great. There’s a fair few Big Smoke beers, but they seem to all be usual suspects - I’m not really sure they make much beyond their core range these days. Guest casks from Siren, Goody, Wye Valley, Harvey’s and Oakham, among others, but mostly usual suspects. I had four halves. Wasn’t impressed with any of the beers. The quality dipped between ‘just on the cusp of going bad’ and ‘just crossed into gone bad’. Seems like this place has too many casks and not enough turnover. Nothing was absolutely undrinkable, but everything was flat and a bit musty. Kegs are a mix of macro, Big Smoke core beers and a few guests. 360, Double-Barrelled and Siren - again, nothing particularly interesting. Perhaps I’ve picked an off day, but for new and interesting beers, there’s not much on offer here. If you’re just in need of a pint or two, or at the whim of others who aren’t interested in beer, then it’s a fine spot, but, based on this visit, I wouldn’t make much of an effort to visit. That being said, you might want to try the cask before you buy.

Surprisingly pleasant roadside patio and a wood laden though slightly overhauled, clean and tidy interior. The bar is just opposite the main entrance and it's quite long, with about 20 hand pumps and about the same amount of taps. The selection may be centered on Big Smoke beers though there are far more guest beers than that. With this amount it somes as no surprise that some of the beers, especially the few dark ones, have seen better days. At least the Harvey's best did the trick. The pork ribs were excellent and the atmosphere welcoming. If not necessarily for the beers, it is still worth popping in.

The bus from Twickenham centre drops you right outside this modernised but still traditional in style pub. The bar is directly in front of you as you enter with an array of hand pulls and keg fonts stretching the whole length and round each corner. There are many Big Smoke beers on but also plenty of choice in guest beers. The Landlord is helpful and keen to describe the beers. The pub has a covered patio area then a garden with a kids play ground to the rear. It's in a pleasant area of Twickenham, close to the green and is well served by public transport. Well worth visiting.

What a great place - a cosy and comfortable traditional pub with a large garden and a superb beer range. There are 15 casks and 10 kegs plus bottles. The service was delightful and the food was very good too. Highly recommended. (Visited 31 July 2018).

Wow, what can I say? Excellent range of different beers kept very well. Knowledgeable and attentive staff. Gorgeous interior and old skool design. Lovely proper old pub feel with excellent beer. Incredibly good value. Great stuff on keg and a great first festival beer event in the back. I will be back. Fantastic pub.

i live opposite. v nice pub, used to be even better. erratic but often brilliant cask selection arbor, celt and burning sky are regulars but so are some also rans. often see magic rock on keg. bottle selection used to be good, but is now pants (charles wells dna anyone?) after they changed supplier. massive (underused) beer garden which makes me think it will be bought by some faceless gastro chain at some point.roast dinners here are the shit. only thing which lets this place down is the bottle range and the ever changing/ slightly aloof staff who often have no idea about the beer they are selling. Dont get me wrong, some are great, but to become a beer mecca places need to invest in their staff as much as they do everything else. Still best in the area, though the Alex is gaining ground.

Barkeep frenetically levering through buckets of Just Finished and Available Soon on my visit which is probably great for beer quality but not so great for keeping thirsty and easily irked wayfarers like me refreshed of a Friday 10 o’clock. Service sub inner city Spoons- not especially busy but took an ETERNAL TEN MINUTES to get my hands on a pint due to vast swathes of idiots monopolising the bar whilst one of them ordered, bar staff flirting with the regulars and random people wandering behind the counter for a natter. Felt like opening night and none of the staff had been introduced or worked behind a bar before. Somewhat parochial cask selection redeemed by the exception of Magic Rock- a first on hand pull for a novice like me. The exoticism of pump clips on the ceiling suggests my visit may have been unluckily timed. On a more positive note, a surfeit of craft interest in the fridges at dirt cheap knockdown prices due to supply chain issues, further discounted by the obliging greenhorn on the till. Filled my boots (and cardboard 6 pack) and fucked off back to the Travelodge.

What a wonderful pub! 15 handpumps (10 beer, 5 cider) featuring breweries such as Weird Beard, Oakleaf, Arbor &, to the delight of my friend from Bradford, 5 Yorkshire breweries (Great Heck, Magic Rock, Mallinson’s, Rudgate & Summer Wine). The bar staff were knowledgeable, friendly & helpful and the food was excellent. We enjoyed the company of the friendly locals, too. Definitely coming back here again soon!

***three years ago***Great pub which blurs the line nicely between good old fashioned CAMRA cask heaven and londons growing craft beer culture. In some respects this pub could represent the future of beer in the UK. Anyway, big selection of ever changing cask beers from all over the UK with a nice selection of craft beers in the bottle inc beers from Brewdog, flying dog, Victory etc etc. My main gripe is that the broad cask selection was too skewed toward more traditionally style british bitters and dark beers and not enough hop forward modern style beers. As an IPA fan I had to hit the fridge after a pint and a half of Darkstar pale ale (the hoppiest) I would ask that an effort is made to have a broad spread of styles at all times. I noted that they only had standard keg beers. Perhaps a couple of craft kegs would help? Minor issues apart (bad luck), one of the best beer focused bars in West london. ********************** Nov 1013 - One year on. Change of ownership recently seems to have given a more craft vibe to the selection. Still no kegs but the cask represent some of the coolest and best craft brewers in the UK (Tiny Rebel, Magic Rock etc) and the fridge has some of the worlds best (Stone,Mikkellar and Rogue) *******May 2014. We have Keg! Ignoring the £6 a pint Punk IPA (WHY £6???), This pub gets better. One keg but last week magic rock villainous tonight Harbour farmhouse IPA. Magic Rock Dark Arts on cask. This could be the best pub in London. ******Jan 2015 Pub has gone freehold and all of the tethers mainstream rubbish has gone!!! Alongside the endless cask range are 9 Keg beers. The most mainstream beers are now Camden Helles and Brooklyn lager. Last Night the other kegs include 2 Siren beers, 2 Beavertown beers and a Kernel. In addition the pub now has a a least of couple of Big Smoke Casks from its sister pubs (Antelope) onsite microbrewery This pubs is now a series contender for the best in london and is up there with the Craft beer company in terms of choice
