Near the central canal, perfectly okay walk. If you walk by the canal from the center, you have to turn into a really narrow alleyway that bears the name of the bar or rather the other way around. It is a rather small really old school “oud bruin” Dutch bar which is very cool. Packed but still some space, seemingly locals & old school. Great stuff for atmosphere. Beer selection is heavy on more old school established NL specialty brewers like Maximus, Jopen, Bronckhorster, De Molen somewhat qualifies there as well. Quite an expensive bottle list & I didn’t really see where they keep all that stuff & I wondered a bit. It is a solid beer list and interesting enough for sure. They also have a house whisky blend, fair amount of hard liquor. Dozen or so taps, main qualm here is the prices, everything on draft is about 5.50 euro, NL is expensive for beer and I could live with it if not that Café Derat had a similar price point but offered the likes of Magic Rock & Brew by Numbers for and that bar is really old-school in feel & layout as well. Professional seasoned service. Really cool place which would be better if Café Derat wasn’t so nearby, focus is different between the two bars, it is mainly just the price thing.
A very small bar with limited seating and a couple of outdoor tables. Convenient location to centre of town and canals. An interesting tap list with local craft focus and a good bottle menu with focus again on local and Dutch brewers though also an interesting selection of international. Knowledgeable and passionate owners. Worth stopping a couple of times...
A cozy pub with a small outdoor space. Service was nice and knowledgeable. Tap list is interesting and a very cool bottle list with some De Molen I have been wanting to try. Except for the hours, this is my favourite place in town. Wifi rarely works.
Opening hours seem to be more of a take your chances, we might decide to open then, and if we do we might even let you in the building. A pity the service is so miserable; the beer choice is pretty solid, a few Dutch micros on tap and a fairly varied bottle list. If only it was run by people who provided some sort of hospitality.
Beautiful tasting room, located in the heart of Utrecht with a superb selection of craftbeer, wines and spirits that can be combined with a nice plate of local charcuterie. Note; The knowledgeable propietors run a tight ship as you’ll only be served if they are able to seat you, so try and visit slightly ahead of peak times. Well worth a visit!

A cozy little cafe rather centrally located in Utrecht. The taps are mostly local and good, and there are quite some bottles available as well. The taps can be a bit pricy, but still reasonable. The owner is nice and very knowledgeable of the beers she serves. Lovely place!
I really enjoyed my visit here .. Great service from the lady behind the bar with chat about the beer’s scene in Italy and Holland.. The selection was better than other more famous places in Holland and I had a local sour fruit beer whiskie barrel aged that was pretty good .. Unfortunately like all the other beer bar I visited here or in Amsterdam no quality on the bottom fermented beers .. Very nice place if in Utrecht!
