82 Highly enjoyable small bar which is run by very friendly & informative people. Great choice of Dutch beers in bottle from across the country. Only place I went in the Netherlands where I received a small bar snack of good quality nuts. |
86 Fun small place off the beaten path with little direct sunlight. Recently bought by a brother & sister in the late twenties who are super friendly and knowledgeable. About 8 seats at the wooden bar. 5 small tables that can be reserved ahead of time. About 8 beers on tap with a nice mix of styles from EU countries. Very nice bottle list of bottles of Dutch and other EU beers. Great place with tons of charm. I will be back. |
96 A small café in the historic center of Utrecht, with dedicated owners Dunja & Maurits. With gigantic knowledge of beers, wine, (dutch) gin. They can advice you on the beers and their breweries, which they visit their selves. You can get homemade snacks. A place worth a visit. |
80 Tiny, intimate place that was fairly full on a Sunday mid-afternoon. Just 9 taps, with nothing really extraordinary on other than a vintage Dutch beer that was exquisite. Different beers are served in different sizes, but 0.25L tends to be the smallest. Samples will be given if it’s not a rare beer. The bottle selection is pretty damn solid too, with a particularly impressive list of BA beers from De Molen and other Dutch brewers. Service was... strange: was not acknowledged for 7-8 minutes upon sitting at the bar, then was met with rather abrupt but somehow friendly answers to my simple questions; the lady found it odd that I wanted to sample a few beers at a time. Overall, worth a visit if in Utrecht. |

80 Very nice small bar in the centre of Utrecht, cozy and a no-nonsense interior. Excellent selection of 9 beers from the tap and a large selection of bottled beers, Dutch as well as international. Very good service from the barlady.

82 Forgot to write this up on a visit just before Borefts last year. Solid but not spectacular choice on tap but fantastic bottle selection of rare local sours on this trip. would very much go again when in town |
84 Near the central canal, perfectly okay walk. If you walk by the canal from the center, you have to turn into a really narrow alleyway that bears the name of the bar or rather the other way around. It is a rather small really old school “oud bruin” Dutch bar which is very cool. Packed but still some space, seemingly locals & old school. Great stuff for atmosphere. Beer selection is heavy on more old school established NL specialty brewers like Maximus, Jopen, Bronckhorster, De Molen somewhat qualifies there as well. Quite an expensive bottle list & I didn’t really see where they keep all that stuff & I wondered a bit. It is a solid beer list and interesting enough for sure. They also have a house whisky blend, fair amount of hard liquor. Dozen or so taps, main qualm here is the prices, everything on draft is about 5.50 euro, NL is expensive for beer and I could live with it if not that Café Derat had a similar price point but offered the likes of Magic Rock & Brew by Numbers for and that bar is really old-school in feel & layout as well. Professional seasoned service. Really cool place which would be better if Café Derat wasn’t so nearby, focus is different between the two bars, it is mainly just the price thing. |
86 A very small bar with limited seating and a couple of outdoor tables. Convenient location to centre of town and canals. An interesting tap list with local craft focus and a good bottle menu with focus again on local and Dutch brewers though also an interesting selection of international. Knowledgeable and passionate owners. Worth stopping a couple of times... |
