68 Farily spacey place with lots of swag around a fairly large room. Much bigger than I was expecting. 4-5 micros on tap, the rest imports of which some are good, like Weltenburger and some are Bud. Big bottle selection too, but again some good stuff and a lot of imported macro lagers. The staff are friendly and give honest and good recommendations about the beer. However, my overall impression is it is trying to be too much to too many people and lacks focus. Food was hit (Fish and Chips) and miss (Pizza). If you want to go out with a bunch of non-beer geek friends, this would probably be pretty acceptable. Somewhat of a sports bar feel to it. |
78 Visited on a Wednesday night so it was pretty empty. First impression was that it’s a bigger place than most craft beer bars I’ve seen in Japan. Made me think of an American sports bar in the look and feel of the place. The tap lineup was really impressive for the area. About 25 or so beers on tap with a few handpumps, as well. Beers from Germany, Belgium, Japan, USA, England and others were available when I visited. Also had a few seasonals, which was real nice. I hear they are trying to have 400 different bottles available, but when I stopped in they had about 30 or so. Had a few beers in bottles I haven’t seen around before, including the Yokohama Brewery’s lineup. The only drawback (for me) was that the staff didn’t speak english very well. Seeing as how it’s in Japan that’s more my fault than anything. But when we were able to understand each other they didn’t seem to know much about the beers they were serving. All in all it’s a real nice place and I’ll definitly be back. (Directions: Take the Minatomirai subway to Basamichi station. Use exit #3, making a slight left walking towards Heiwa Plaza hotel. Walk two blocks, turn left and it’s about a half a block up on the left) |
