Visited on 4th June 2016. Large open plan venue with an L shape and a bar just after the right angle. Good range of cask beer with a smattering of keg. Prices are higher for the tourist factor. Tried to get food but a 45 min wait put me off. Staff were excellent despite the setback. Nice place.
Stopped by for lunch and grabbed a pint with a ploughman’s.sandwich. All good stuff. Interesting beers on tap. The bar feels modern and has a light and airy vibe. Really good service and perhaps the friendliest waitress in all the beer establishments. Nice place.
It’s located a few minutes’ walk from the train station, turning right when leaving the station. As many other Market Town Taverns it has a classic-modern and well-preserved outlook. Good selection of eight cask ales, two hand-pulled ciders and another eight beers on keg. I had a few freshly homemade cheese sandwiches for lunch which tasted fine with the pub’s well-kept ales. The keg and cask ales are done in thirds. Friendly service from a smiling girl. I stayed here much longer than planned due to the relaxing atmosphere and variety of beers (visited 10.07.2014).
The Brigantes Bar has a good relaxed feel, it was handy for the return back from York Beer Festival, it was warm and cosy. Wood floor and furniture, more comfortable than it sounds, light and airy. The beers were a good range and well served. A must return to pub.
