Re-visiting an old haunt, after a truly long time, can be a predictable disappointment. Knowing that, I still was frustrated at Bier Circus. When Patrick started this pub, on the old location 250m further down, it was by far the highlight of beer-starved Brussels. Now, it is just a restopub with some mildly interesting beers; 5 taps - nice beers, all of them, and several pages of bottled beers (well explained, no doubt about that!), but none of them really innovative. OK, I’m a difficult person, but only a single beer that I hadn’t had - poor, if you compare it to the others on the contemporary Brussels’ beerscene; Hoppy Loft, Moeder Lambic x2, not to forget Brussels Beer Project, and the superb little beershops e tutti quanti, with their ever-changing offer of international craftgems. Oh yes, don’t go for non-Belgian, here, Patrick stays on the Belgian scene only. Said tongue-in-cheek, to add insult to injury, on the website one really novel beer was announced, and proved unavailable, even not recognised by the staff. Not up to date... I mentioned "Food Not Applicable" as I didn’t eat, and that’s exactly where the problem lies. Once, this was a beerpub. Now it is a beercuisine restaurant with some good beers. The drinkers are stuffed into a cramped nook, where the regulars gather, together with people like me, visiting a performance at Cirque Royale, and the beerafficionado hardly gets to the menu, and feels displaced. I hear good things about the food, so my advice: if you’re in this neighbourhood, feel hungry and want a glass of Belgian Classic good beer, this might well where you want to be. Unless, of course, the plethora of international restaurants all around in the street catch the attention of your stomach first...

Nice place with a small bar section and a larger section where you can eat as well. Very kind service personal and very fair prices for a large selection of beers.

Am amazed to see I had not rated this venue as I have been here loads of times over the years. Not the largest choice but usually an excellent list from better breweries.

Extensive selection of Belgian beers, not all were available, good food, although not freshly prepared, but what was disaster , was stuff, rude, slow. I am not sure if I will ever return.

About a 10min walk from the Grande Place. Big seating area and small bar area. I had a Faro Boon on tap. Good selection of typical belgians. Nice list of vintage lambics.

Large restaurant with smaller bar up front, nice corner location, lots of old beer memorabilia. Service was solid, as good as it gets in a place where they aren’t getting tipped. Great bottle list, like a book of all the Belgian favorites. Food was pretty damn good, but a little pricey compared to other spots in town. Great place for dinner.

Good beer cafe with a pretty decent range on the menu, definitely better than the norm. Food does a job, lityle more. Service nice enough. Sad that it was almost completely empty the evening I visited, felt a bit weird and the room was a bit sterile.

I have been here many times, but never rated the place. Good luck finding it if you are coming from Central Station. There is a very nice bar in the back with a dozen or so stools and a restaurant in the front. There are only 4 taps at the bar, but a ton of bottles. Nice selection of lambics and usually a couple rare beers. A lo of small Belgian breweries are represented here.

Several enjoyable beers round the corner from our hotel. Ok selection, my first gueze and an incredible feel, unchanged from 1928. Not the cheapest, but worth a visit

Fairly big beer bar, also serving food. Good tap selection with some modern craft brews from Belgian brewers. Nice. Bottle list is nice too, with lots to choose from even though most is quite well known. Professional, quick service. Well thought out interior, little cheese but clean. Pretty quiet actually when I was there (Tuesday afternoon). Probably find a few ticks here. Nice bar, prices are okay. Nothing special for Brussels though, if not for the good tap list.
