This place closed a while ago, but had to rate cuz I loved the sushi here...only few local beers on tap but they always had oceanside ale and pizza port brews....especially enjoyed ports chronic and OAW American strong there. Sad to see it closed, but check Wrench and Rodent, similar style and there is a new fusion place in there I head.

Good but expensive sushi with a few craft beers on tap. Personal favorite is the Real Surf sushi roll. Hill Street Cafe next door makes very good food but the service is hit and miss.

Glad I saw this entry on RB since I wanted to do a lighter dinner with decent beer. Ambiance is pretty cool like people have described as it is joining an art gallery bistro place. However, the artwork inside the sushi place was abhorrent and I hope was part of an exhibit they take down soon: paintings of people holding out their own hearts, people vomiting into eachother’s mouth, a man with full on boobs and a bunny hat, and a small malnourished child looking like gollum from LOTR.

Oh yeah, sushi was great. Got the Chronic roll like everyone said here and on Yelp. I liked some other brighter rolls better since the thick sauce and tempura is not my thing. Spicy calamari with the picked onion and cucumber was really good. Beer on tap was a small list but including Breakwater, Oceanside Aleworks, Stone, and Black Market. Impressive for a sushi place. Ordered an Oceanside Blonde, but it was undrinkable. Fortunately, I wasn’t charged for it either by accident or because the server saw I didn’t drink more than a single sip of it. Anyway, fun place and I’m glad someone added it to the database. $5 pints of all craft beer on tap is also hard to beat.

The ambiance here is really cool. It’s in two houses with a deck and a garden. Service was great every time I visited. I had sushi the last night I was here and it was, like most other sushi I got in the SD area, absolutely delicious. The beer selection is pretty good but not with anything stellar on. They do feature some of the smaller breweries in the close vicinity so that was kind of cool.

This place is a restaurant with two parts, the sushi and the regular menu. You can sit in either of two buildings and get both menus. What rocks is the ambiance inside either building and the patio between the two restaurant halfs. Additionally, they often have Stone Smoked Porter, Oceanside Brewing Strong Ale, and a few other micros. It’s locally owned and they make a some killer sushi, such as the Skipper, Ginger, Mary Anne, and the Chronic. Unpretentious and satisfying.
