Tucked away in an industrial park are two breweries mere feet from each other, and not too far from nearby AleSmith. There is an open air tap room along with the brewery equipment and a wall adorned with surf boards. The bar tender/brewer was quite friendly and eager to discuss his beers. There was no food but there is the occasional food truck.

Comments: It’s apparently two brewers that left Stone and started their own place. But the name is so unoriginal and the beers were so meh that I am a bit surprised. We were the only people in there unlike at 2 Kids, Legacy, Lightning, and others. Very talkative and fun brewer on staff serving us samplers. I’m not sure what one does here but rake up some beer ticks while heading to AleSmith.

These guys are in the same building as Two Kids which makes it convenient for tickers and I’m sure benefits both sub par breweries. These guys really need some better advertising though. One sign on the glass door, nothing above (though I’m sure that’s a function of the building owners not allowing it) and they don’t even have their name on the directory by the driveway. At least they spent a little bit of money and built a proper brewery, even if it is only a 7 bbl system. No plastic fermenters, properly chilled and carbonated beer, and (for better or worse) they have a TV. The beers do not have a bunch of off flavors, which is good, but they do need work. The hoppy beers just aren’t hoppy, and considering that five out of six beers were hoppy styles I’d say that’s a problem. Even the dry hopped amber ale wasn’t very hoppy. Hmm. I assume I’ll get dragged here on a San Diego beer run at some point but I’m not in a hurry to revisit, though considering they actually have some idea of the brewing process maybe they’ll improve.

Prices are kind of high on samplers at $7 for 4 tasters. No food served but I suspect like most places you can bring your own in.

Another place found by pure luck as it is in the same business park as Two Kids Brewing. Two breweries in one small business park, that should work out well...

Anyway, the brewing system here is tiny. And seemed to be portable (on wheels). Decent sized bar with about eight taps. The beers are decently priced when it comes to pints. Flights are $7 for four beers. The guy pouring beers is also the brewer (and possibly the owner?).

Beer quality is mediocre, but unlike most of these new breweries, there are no real flaws in brewing or fermentation, the recipes and particularly the hops seemed to be the problem. Would probably give these guys another shot in the future.
