Ambience is cosy but very small, so it quickly gets crowded. Service is good with a fair knowledge on beer, but very "working class british", where it seems that the bartender does not really like to answer questions. Selection is good. Fairly pricy, but quality is good.
A tiny, cozy pub with a very decent beer selection (the number of taps is surprising considering how small the place actually is). The only real drawback (but it’s a big one) to the place is that it is so small that smoking is still allowed.
This is not a place where people smoke while they drink, its a place where people drink wile they smoke. That said, it’s nice to go to a great beer bar full of friendly, "normal" people instead of hipsters staring at their phones. Very cozy interior with lots of character. Good selection with mostly Danish craft and some British and Belgian classics. The taplist skews towards the strong and malty, which is appropriate given the smoking.
As bars goes in Aarhus this is a very good one when looking for good beer. However don’t expect too much of the hoppy beers on tap, as they have often lost a lot of aroma and flavor. If you stick to non hop forward styles you should do well.
Located in a small lane in the old town of Aarhus, this tiny pub and whisky bar is a nice place to stop by when on a shopping spree in the city. The interior is rather old fashioned and minuscule, featuring a short bar and 7 small round wooden tables and chairs around them. Lots of old knicknaks, mostly beer emblems, decorate the walls which are in need of redecoration. The staff, consisting of a single jovial elderly plump gentleman, is nice and friendly. The selection includes some quality Danish beers and a few standard UK and Belgian brews. An impressive number of taps considering the size of the venue. Regular prices for decent beer in this part of the city. Might be back again.
Visited a few times over the years, but normally just like recently only in spring/summer so can sit outside to escape the overwhelming smoking going on inside. Beer selection is ok overall, but don’t think you will find much here to blow your socks off.
Addition of Uncle Sams USA section, which is non-smoking and has a TV screen for watching sport, solves two of the previous criticisms of Cockney Pub at a stroke (i.e. too small and too smokey). Beer prices are excellent for the area. Jazz session on Sunday afternoons.
