48 I don’t live in Denver, and made a special trip out to this store during a visit to Denver because of what I’d read on-line and was disappointed. The store is small, about the size of a gas-station convenience store, and devotes all of its floor space to wine, and nearly all of its cooler space to beer. Selection was pretty high quality, and a better selection of crafts/imports than the Argonaut (the only other Denver liquor store I visited), but the variety available wasn’t fantastic. The store is convenient to US-6 and if you’re going to the mountains from Denver, it is on the way.
The guy working the counter didn’t come out from behind the counter, even though my friend & I were the only two people in the store. I asked him what beers were in the Breckenridge sampler (it’s not marked or cut-out), and rather than answering me or cutting open the package, he suggested I should just buy it and find out. That wasn’t really a very helpful answer. Denver sort of seems like a beer mecca, but I couldn’t seem to find a liquor store with a decent beer selection during my visit. |
46 Not terrible. They have a decent enough selection to keep the beer lover happy, but not mind-blowing. Look hard and you will find some decent brews though. Service was typical, not the type of people that really know their beer it seems. Not very friendly, more of a grab it and go type of place, but nothing offensive. |
50 Yet another in the vast cruise around the town in search of MORE. Seems like I found a bottle or two that I didn’t see elsewhere, but nothing memorable. |
50 I was disappointed with Union Liquors. Not that extensive of a selection, not nearly enough singles available, no case discounts, and high prices. I’m still searching for THE beer store in the Denver area, and I think next time in town I will visit Boulder, as I’ve not had good experiences with Union or Total Beverage. |
