Tatty and filthy establishment down in the port area. Infected beers, bugs flying around the bar and strange smells lingering, and thats just some of the bad points about this place. Funnily enough it was very busy during the afternoon so the food must be good. I didnt see anyone else order beer so I was the stupid tourist who risked my health. The Malit was so infected it burned my throat for the next half hour. I wasnt game enough to try any other beers. Visit at your own risk!

The location is a bit strange, and it was odd to visit this part of the port at night - nothing seemed to work except for this in the complex where this is situated and groups of immigrants were gathering on the streets around it to hang out and have fun I guess. The interior is ok enough, hardly special. We were first sat on the outside and after ordering just beer (and saying that we won’t have anything to eat), we were asked by another waitress if we wanted anything to eat again (eh), and then sent back inside because the outside was only for those who ordered food (eh x2). With more waiters than people in the bar. (eh x3). Ah, well, they did send out some free snacks which hit the spot nicely, especially some really spicy stuff so that’s nice I guess. Two of the beers, the wheat and Malit were off, very acidic. The other two were ok, hardly thrilling, but Rifis, the pale lager, was possibly the best I’ve had so far from Italy.

Nice bar near the sea (and the Galata Museum) which serves the beers of the Birreria Lion (http://www.ratebeer.com/brewers/birreria-lion/7894/) on tap the food is not amazing, but it’s maybe the only place where you can drink those beers, now that the original brewpub in Sestri Levante has closed to the public. So, interesting more for the hunting cause than from the strict quality point of view.
