88 Best place in Halifax to pick up brews you can’t find anywhere else. As others have mentioned, it can be a bit pricey. |
74 Revisited many times (but finally updating my rating which dates from a long time ago). They’ve done a hell of a lot to improve the selection in here. A nice selection of California, BrewDog and a bunch of stuff I’ve not seen anywhere else. Can be pricey for some of the more obscure stuff but you aren’t going to find it anywhere else. Friendly guys inside. Easily the best shop in the province.
Small store with what seems like an incredible amount of wasted space. Has a few things that you probably will not find anywhere else, but it doesnt really have a very broad selection at all. |
86 A nice surprise for this displaced Ontarian. Lagunitas IPA (my fave) and a random but decent selection of bottles from all over. So a 12oz bottle of Lagunitas is nearly $5, that’s ok because it’s a rare treat. Other good stuff--from USA, from Belgium, UK. As ever, the interprovincial trade barriers make the other Cdn provinces under-represented, but they can’t be responsible for our stupid prohibition era laws. Sadly the spirits selection was limited and nothing smaller than 750ml (I was travelling so wanted a little tipple). But this is rate BEER so ignore that :) |
76 best beer selection in the maritimes. Staff is knowledgeable, and appreciate the importance of offering stuff people in Halifax and around probably don’t see that often. |
64 Great store, and great selection, especially in Atlantic Canada. Prices are sky high though, one real big downside from where I sit. Still, I give them credit for trying and I don’t mind paying extra for quality or different experirences. |
82 The name might be wines, but the whole section just inside the mall entrance is beer. Long hours, 10am to 8pm seven days a week.
This location pretty much completely lacks macros, but there’s really no need for them to be carried. Premier mostly carries craft brews, either local Propeller or Garrison and a wide variety from Quebec, with a small but varied selection of international brews. Most of their stock is either hard or impossible to find anywhere else in Atlantic Canada.
The staff did not seem surprised that I was stocking up on my way back to New Brunswick and helpfully gave me a wine box to carry all my finds back to my car.
Of note, they have an online catalog, but the catalog lists some selections as being sold only in 4, 6 or 12 packs. While this is the case for online orders, in the store, as far as I could tell, everything was available as singles. Buying larger packs was a better value, but if you want a wide variety or to try something before committing to 5 more this was very exciting. |
80 Definitely worth the stop here for the local seen and other awesome canadian brews, not many imports, a few belgians. But its got a really nice selection of of cdn brews. nice staff, good stop, glad I when here, if your in there area and looking for a good selection of halifax brews, recommend a stop here |
72 Stopped in to fill my cart with Canada’s finest and I was not let down. The best selection of beer I hit while in Canada by a mile. A pretty good selection from all over. |
48 The selection here is a decent selection, with some okay quality beer.
Staff not very knowledgeable or helpful. Location can be difficult to find if not local. |
90 Easily the go to place for beer in the Atlantic/Maritime provinces. These guys seem to have figured out that there’s nothing out there for the beer loving community and filled the niche well. A lot of the selection is currently from Quebec based brewers - DDC, Unibroue, Brasseurs de Montreal (which I hadn’t even heard of until these guys started selling them) - with a few American crafts, Belgians and locals. I have it on pretty good authority they’ll be getting some Scottish brews soon. The service is usually top notch most of the time. A few of the people that work here obviously really dig their beer but others don’t seem to know a thing about it. |
