Me and Baz visited here on Saturday 9th November 2013. This was a first visit here for both of us. The pub can be found off of a side street between the centre of town and the railway station, it is a relatively short walk from both though possibly slightly closer to town. The pub occupies a corner position and is a friendly locals type pub, with 3-4 rooms, one with pool table, one area is a raised seating area (where we sat). The bar occupies a central position within the pub, TV showing sports (horse racing) was on when we went there. Beer choice was interesting as whilst this is a freehouse the three handpumps had the entire selection of the relatively newish city brewery called Wobbly. Prices were excellent £2.80 for a very decent 6% Wobbly Bob (Chocolate Porter), as well as this beer Wobbly Welder and Wobbly Wife were also on tap, the other taps (kegs) dispensed lager. This is definately worth popping into if close by as I understand it is a regular outlet for the Wobbly beers.
