56 There are too many good beer pubs in Hinckley to give this a higher rate. It's noticeably light on guest beers, focusing instead on their favoured nationals such as Doom Bar, Abbot, Ruddles, etc. Crowded and soulless, but the service isn't as surly as I'd would be if I worked here. And it's not even cheap for a Spoons. Not the chain's finest hour but it'll do in a pinch. |
50 25/02/13. Best pub in Hinckley- it’s not owned by Marstons. Never been served a beer in anything but decent condition, usually excellent. Complementary sauces and childrens’ crayons. Comes into its own during the festivals; otherwise has a tendency to lapse into ’coming soon’ laziness and predictability. That said once saw 2 lesbians ejected for aggressively groping each other. On a Sunday afternoon. Never been attacked, or even threatened. Doesn’t get any better than than this Hinckley. UPDATE: no longer the top ale house in HNK and struggling to breach the top 5. Lazy, parochial selection even during festivals, with only 2 (or fewer) festival beers on. Kind of defeats the object of offering a tray of 3 thirds. |
66 Wetherspoon pub in the small town centre occupying a corner of a small square. Inside the decor is regular for this chain but no less comfortable. The bar on the right as you walk in has two sets of ale pumps to choose from, although at busy times the high tables close to the service area can make it difficult to order. It’s open plan set on three stepped levels. Despite the the disabled toilet being on the ground floor there is a mobility lift available to the second level, but not the third. |
