Michael’s Supermarket

No Longer In Business

I saw this place when I was up in northern Kyoto(it’s near Tingara) and thought of adding it but decided against it as it is a fairly standard import type supermarket with average prices and an average selection of roughly 20-25 European imports and Japanese Craft beer. Though I guess you may find a few you won’t see that often elsewhere in town. Useful if you live nearby or are staying in the area, not worth a detour. For a wider selection go to the nearby Asao Liquor Shop.

So recently, Michael’s has started to sell japanese craft beer. I am very happy that they have done so, because Kita-Shirakawa is an area with few options. They have always sold a number of European beers (Greene King types), so this is very nice. Service is fine. I wouldn’t go out of my way, but if you are in the area. And they do sell some stuff I haven’t seen other places in Kyoto, so... Good! If they continue to add, I’ll definitely be happy.
