This used to be an amazing beer pub but, after a period of closure, has opened under the same name as a sports bar. Garrish and uncomfortable but I suppose it will do well on match days due to the location. No more beer choice really, just Tribute and two Sharps beers on, plus the normal macro lagers. Got a half of Tribute, sadly it was not in any kind of condition. Awful in almost every way now.

A little bit out of the way, but well worth it to visit a decent local bar with a reasonable range of ales in a convivial atmosphere.

Very much a local pub, traditional and basic, with two rooms, one of which has a pool table. By the door there’s an astronaut’s suit, which puzzled me at first but then I remembered that on the M1 somewhere round about here there’s a sign for the National Space Centre (and now I’ve looked it up - it turns out it’s just north of Leicester). There were two banks of six hand pumps and six keg beers, with the cask beer priced according to its ABV. (Visited 21 February 2016).

Visited February 2016 with beery friends. Cosy old style, twinroomed town pub. The center bar serves into both rooms. Beers are served in ok condition. Friendly staff, an astronaut welcomes you at the door, and there is a poolroom, they do music events and quiz nights. Seems like a local place :-)

Visited on Friday 5th February 2016. Walked the 15 mins from the station dodging the traffic on a number of busy roads. 2 roomed pub, lived in tatty feel. 6 beers and a cider on handpulls plus a small keg offering. Oakham and Grainstore feature. Beer was well kept, prices decent. Service good. Nice pub.

Corner pub on Leicester’s busy ring road in a semi industrial area a little away from the rest of the towns pubs. It was full of Football fans when we arrived this time, grabbing that last pint before a good sing song, looks safe enough for both home and away supporters. Good atmosphere initially, empty after kick off. The cask range is a little limited but a decent choice of Oakham beers, I didn’t investigate the bottled range. Always worth the walk over there but is falling behind its competitors a little.

10 minutes walk from the railwaystation, nice pub divided in rooms, interior wise this is a proper old pub, carpets and small seating groups, green roof and doors. Good service, beers in good nick, free wifi, some food available as well, what mora can a man ask for.

While it was hard to tell with no book the selection of bottles here seemed to be the main draw. Like other decent pubs you start with a choice of about six to eight cask ales. At least was dedicated to Oakham with others being regional in nature. Service was hard to gauge as the barman disappeared shortly after taking our order.

This place feels like it came straight out of the 1930s. Worn furniture and railings are like stepping into a time machine. This doesn’t affect the ambiance but does give it a rough feel unlike some polished places. I’d love to return at some point to see what they offer in bottle form but suspect that is unlikely to happen with so many other choices.

Staple boozer during the later stages of my LCFC ST days (’01 - ’05). Paid a few visits post this period circa ’09/’10. Trad boozer with 2 rooms and a bar separating them. Small beer garden where beers tend to be stashed during the German BF’s. Cask ales often from the likes of Abbeyldale, Newby Wyke and Oakham. Good bottled selection incudling many foreign numbers. Service is spot on - top boozer !
