Visited on a Sunday evening. Long range of Occy’s beers on tap, 8 I think, plus 3 visitors, 2 from Renneisence and Rougue Dead Guy. Staff were very attentive and food excellent, especially the 24Hr slow cooked Burito.

The old Occy’s Brewery is biting off a little more. As Occy’s had to close it’s doors in Busselton, they have decided to take on a more public persona in Dunsborough. Opening at the end of November & evolving into a licensed restaurant/cafe with amazing food that enhances the wonderful Occy’s brews as well as a full bar. Opening 7 days a week from 8am till 10pm & following the Occy’s motto to "Keep it Simple".

FIrst up on a tour with the ladies at ’Taste of the South’ on a balmy Sunday morning. Literally a tin shed off to the rear of Newtown House - one of the last remaining heritage houses of the area. Enough parking’s available to fill both venues and the beer garden is just enough to give it space and at the same time a friendly, intimacy. Pot bellied stove seems the centre of attention over the long bar nearby. Child friendly with plenty of activity ot keep ’em occupied. Mixture of random bits and bobs through out the interior, a little rough but rustic none the less. The food available from the end of the lawn area is supplied by the folks at Newtown house. Live bands play here often and the Summer sundowners here are apparently legendary. The beer is rustic also. Common styles of Bitter, pale lager, stout, wheat, etc all quite nice drops and suited to the surrounds and patrons alike. A few novelties drinks also, and now a tasty cider too. Visited here on and off for the past six years and stil find it a must on the way south.

Popped in here near closing time, yet was still warmly received. I shared the tasting tray of all the beers with my wife while our kids played in the playgound. Somewhat rustic setting, but very comfortable with a handful of regulars scattered around for good measure. There is pride and passion in this little start-up operation, and I wish them every success, but they are really going to have to "buff up" their brews if they wish to grow IMHO. I bought a handsome hand-made Occy’s stein.
