86 Managed to visit the new place, having moved from their tiny previous spot earlier this year to a new space nearby. This new space is completely different, with a relaxed modern cafe/bar vibe, a fairly spacious layout with comfortable sofas, ledges and even some games. There are two big double fridges with a very good selection of new releases, lots of buzz breweries as well as some local trad ale. 5 beers on keg. Given the relaxing layout, and game selection I reckon there could be more scope to offer a wider range of specialist coffee / hot drinks and nibbles which I don’t think is offered yet. Friendly owners. Very much recommended if in this neck of the woods. Earlier rating: Seems i’m the first non-fake person to rate this place. Located in a cosy little shop adjacent to the ruins of an old castle in the market town of Hay-on-Wye. Great selection of modern progressive beer with a lot of new releases from many new Welsh (and English) breweries. Some Belgian / American bottles too. Perfect for someone like me that likes to discover new stuff, especially from the more hard-to-find brewers. Good cider selection too. Also has one beer on draft that you can enjoy while you peruse. Knowledgable guy evidently into the beer he sells, and happy to talk about it. Worth a detour. |
78 Online shop review. Selection is a bit smaller than most shops I’ve ordered from before. Obvious focus on UK beers though there are a handful of US/EU beers too. Pricing is very good, pretty much in line with what you’d expect so no complaints there, shipping is £7.99 - a little higher than competitors but still reasonable. No account functionality which is a curious decision though not a big problem, ordering was painless and quick. Service was excellent. Two beers I ordered were actually out of stock but I was offered two relevant replacements instead. The beers were well packed and all arrived safely. Overall: decent little shop, hopefully they continue to grow and can offer a wider selection, I would order again or visit if I was in the area. |
88 Good little shop - 5 beers on tap, interesting selection of local and international beers. Friendly and helpful staff, good atmosphere and good snacks. |
90 Rated high for its audacity, creating a well-curated collection of beers of all types and all over in a town desperately in need of watering by great ales. I hope the new location, wherever it turns out to be, manages to retain a small tasting room. |
80 We visited here with Isobel and Berry (dog) on Friday 23rd December 2016 it was a horrible wet and windy day, I think we were getting the fringes of storm Barbara, it wasn’t too cold but just bloody miserable. Anyway onto the beer shop, Beer Revolution is located in an elevated position, in a lovely very old stone building near the castle however for those planning on stocking up it’s still close to the Oxford Road car park which is about 2-3 minutes away, however *PLEASE NOTE * It will be moving next weekend by Friday 30th December to a new premises close to the Kilverts Inn and antique dealers, so I’m guess it’ll be near Market Street, and therefore likely to benefit from a significantly higher footfall down there than up here. The current location is a very small shop with white stone walls, with shelving on these walls displaying the beers. There is a staircase to the LH side of the small counter, I’m not sure if there was seating upstairs for those that want to drink inside or whether it was just private access and storage. I had only come to pick up some beers that I preordered from the online shop that they have, so we never lingered long. For such a small establishment the choice is really very good. I picked up some great beers from the likes of Crane, Odyssey, Dugges, Moor, all of this was new stuff and all at very fair and reasonable prices, I could have got a lot more beers that were new and of interest to me quite easily, they carry a great local selection of beers and ciders and with rarer stuff from the Buxton/Omnipollo collaborations, Siren, etc it’s well worth popping in. Great shop, great service both online and in person and great choice. I wish them well in the future and with the move. I only wish that Saucy Pears in Worcester would have done something similar and moved to a new and better location rather than just closing. |

96 After looking around the net at various online beer stores i could not find what i wanted which was to buy beers from some of top breweries such as Moor, Siren, Buxton etc etc. Beer Revolution had all of these + many more. A very prompt service with A++ customer service with help on any beer. A full professional service from people who know their stuff when it comes to beer! |
94 After happily browsing in this gem of a shop I’ve just returned home with a haul of interesting Christmas ale chosen with the help of the knowledgable Rob. A great little beer shop in a magical location.. |
