46 On a corner of a random street in Old Town. Looks like ex-corner shop or kiosk. Interior is modest and clean. Russian-speaking staff doesn’t look really happy to see us although we are the only customers at the time. Food arrives quickly. Hamburger is barely average and some of it I can’t finish. Beerwise- surprise surprise only Irlbacher beers are present. |
52 Tucked into a little corner of the old town I’ve never been past before, it’s not surprising I missed this for two years. Alas it seems that on a quiet tuesday night everyone else has missed it too. Stark is the best way to describe it. Being positive, it’s clean and minimalistic with its right angles and sturdy wooden benches. Friendly and cooperative staff, spoke good English. No idea what the rant on Riga IYP was about - every beer was 2€, making it one of the cheapest places in the Old Town. They basically have the full bottled range of Irlbacher beers here, but nothing else (there is some kind of connection between the owner and the brewery). Has a great high-contrast flat screen telly on the wall, showing sports it seems. Only ticked 2/12, as it was late, so I’ll go back. Went back, had huge bratwurst - tasty, but not cheap. Beerwise, I’m 3 down, 9 to go. |
