74 Corner entrance into quite classic pub. Decently furnitured with round tables and 3-4 wooden café-chairs by each. At my visit lots of english beers on the boards/taps. Better than just average beerspot. |
70 A cozy pub in red brick layout promoting a warm atmosphere. Among the taps I bought, in fact, a Fullers Vintage Ale 2017 on cask, and a BrewDog ale made just for Finland. Friendly service. Visited with all kinds of customers. Tram 3 near by took us back to the city center. Many thanks to mjs for guiding me around to the pubs in this part of Helsinki. (Visited 30.11.2017). |
62 Small pub, with a large curved exposed brickwork bar. Candle light on the tables, yellow or oker glazed walls. Good beer selection on tap, 50/50 Finish/Foreign . Good WiFi, good service, nice |
58 Small pub, part of the oluthuone- chain, a bit off from the city center, but near the Helsinki amusement park. I find this place has a great old, hobbit-tavern- like, atmosphere due to its size and interior. It does get crowded though, and the selection is only somewhat better than the standard oluthuone- menu (a cask tap). Bar snacks probably available, haven’t tried. On a summer bar crawl, I would head here before or after getting an adrenalin-kick in the amusement park, and continuing towards either Töölö or kurvi. |
52 Small and usually crowded pub. Always out of Real Ale. Example of not so good SOK chain place. |
66 An atmospheric place of the smaller type. Warm lighting and lots of earthtones present. Service is friendly and professional. The selection is surprisingly good, especially trappist-wise, if not a bit pricey. Recommended. |
74 Friendly service and well poured beer. a bit expesive maybe, but nowadays the special beers cost a lot in any place. quite small and always when I go there there’s a lot of people, but good atmosphere. |
62 Quiet, relaxed place. Almost always one English cask real ale, always served well, which is why I go there occasionally. A little bit remote, but right on a couple of tram routes, so easy to get to. Pleasant friendly staff. Theoretically could start or end a Kallio crawl - Kuikka, molotov, hauki, wk kurvi, 3K, stapa? (You might want to squeeze sivukirjasto in there too) |
58 A decent selection of Belgians. A bit smoky. Quite basic but ok. |
24 AVOID THIS PLACE. SERVICE HAS TURNED TO BE THE LOUSIEST IN THE CITY!! Really.
Place is owned by S group which is trying to create some kind of real beer cafe image but I have never experienced so bad service!
Useful selection of trappists, for example Achel served here. Bavaria has succeeded in marketing LaTrappe on the tap here... sadly...
The name means a "Black-throated Diver" and it was given in order to be a counter attack against the beer pubs named according to the fishes in Helsinki. A diver eats fish.
Last time I visited here service was lousiest ever: they had run out of 5 beers on the list, not marked and those happened to be the ones I ordered! The waiter was "just working here" as he explained. They had white beer weeks going on, beers marked on a specific list, but they had run out of most of beers and not marked it on the list!!
Finally Rochefort 8 was serviced in a tulip glass because the waiter had never served a beer!! It was my first trappist in a long tulip glass in 20 years...
