60 This store is definitely worth a stop when you are in the area. Some beers we located here were not available the same day at Knightly Spirits (like Allagash Victor and Victoria ale, Weyerbacher Imperial Pumpkin ale and a few others). Some hidden jewels located around the shop, but unfortunately, the Trappist Rochefort reported by changeup45 is gone. Still, if you are willing to make the drive, you are likely to find more than a few beers worth purchasing. |
72 Michael’s doesn’t have the largest beer selection but they definitely get an A for quality and effort. I was damn near shocked when I saw Rochefort 10 and St. Bernardus Abt 12 60th Anniversary. Big bonus points there. They’ve also got some rare Italian brews along with other stuff I haven’t seen before. They’ll let you create a mixed 6 pack of anything you want. This is a family owned business and the two working the counter could not have been nicer. Seriously, I have nothing bad to say about this place. A nice little find. Re-rate: After a few more visits, this place is still solid but some stock is old so be aware of that. Some nice glassware choices. Nice area. Initial rating a little high. |
54 If you need decent craft beer and cannot make it to Shamrock’s or Knightly Spirits, or if you’re out east of town in Avalon, then Michael’s is pretty good. They always have the Dogfish staples and some other craft brews with the occasional Belgian (Chimay, Wittekirke, etc) beer mixed in. They are irrgular with seasonals, but what they do have is solid (check out the Jolly Pumpkin wine rack by the beer cooler). If you’re in Avalon then you don’t have to go far to get some good beer. |
