Mr Lawrence Wine Bar is a Brockley Institution. It is a pretty cool, laid-back wine bar with a rather impressive bottled beer selection. Range includes Kernel, Partizan, Beavertown, Late Knights, Buxton, Magic Rock and the like. They have an online business as well, so have a fairly unique range of breweries and beers. You can also order beer online and pick it up from the store. A rather nice place all-round. The Ivy House is located about 10 minutes walk away, so it is well worth visiting both places.

Superlative ambiance in this place. On my visit the clientele ranged from grannies with their newspaper to me. It is a wine bar first and foremost but they stock an impressive range of bottles, highlighted by The Kernel. I actually tried a Mr. Lawrence-branded Pitfield beer on my visit. It was actually a pretty expensive beer (I think north of four quid for a 3.6% bitter) but given that the atmosphere was so nice I didn’t really mind. The service is very friendly. Not a destination in and of itself but worth a visit if you’re nearby.

An enigma in a very nondescript area of London which has very little reason to be visited unless you live there. This is a small wine bar next to a bottle shop with the same owner and name. It has a very relaxed atmosphere with sofas to candle lit tables to compliment the mood they want to and do achieve. There’s nothing here to raise the pulse as you drink, but that is exactly why it works. A bottled ale and lager selection means wine drinkers are not just catered for here.
