Overview: Earth Fare brands itself as a natural/organic foods grocer. If I had to make a comparison to a grocer I know, I’d say their food selection and setup reminds me of the Good Foods co-op in Lexington (also on this site). They’ve set up shop in one of the more under-served areas of town as far as natural/organic grocers is concerned, and their beer selection makes them worth a shot as a beer/groceries stop. I wasn’t approached service-wise, but did strike up a conversation at the cheese counter (their cheese selection is one of the best in the area). The lady there was friendly enough, and informed me that the store didn’t have the license to allow patrons to drink while enjoying a meal. If they had a "beer person," I didn’t see one, or wasn’t informed as to whether one was associated with the store. They do have a fresh food bar, similar to WF, and they also made pizzas/sandwiches/etc. to go. In terms of beer selection, they have a cooler of six packs that are well chosen, and some singles (12 oz. all the way up to 750s) on a warm shelf. Nothing too rare or hard to find, but a solid selection which includes some organic and gluten free selections (Sam Smith’s range, some German stuff, etc.). Prices were about right. PROS: A solid option for groceries/beer. CONS: Pretty average on all other accounts; not being able to drink in-store/no growler station puts this behind WF. OVERALL: A fairly average place all around; would do my grocery shopping here if the trip were beer-centric, but I wouldn’t make this an out of the way destination of any kind. Located in The Summit shopping center, so parking is a cinch. Very close to the Springhurst Liquor Barn, so easy to drop by while in the area.
