A locally run grocery/organic type store. This year is their 75th anniversary. They have a descent selection that is consistent with what you would expect to find in any area grocery store. What they had that was unique for the area was Elevator brewing beers. They don’t make it up to Cleveland so that was different. Otherwise, they have a half aisle dedicated to craft. Divided by import and domestic. You can make your own 6 pack or buy anything in singles which is a big plus. At the end of the aisle is a growler filling station. They had Columbus brewing Bodhi on tap as well as an Elevator Brewing beer. And about 4 or so others. They were also selling that Rogue Voodoo doughnuts bomber in the pink bottle for $30. I haven’t seen that anywhere else either. I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here. But worth a stop if you are in the area.

Decent selection of craft beer in a cooler along with others on the shelf. Stocks local craft beer as well as a few selections from surrounding states. They’ve recently added 4 taps for sampling and growler fills. Other than that no drinking in the establishment from what is poured from the taps. This place is more of a high end grocery store with a "deli" to eat at. They have a much better selection of wine than beer. Would like to see some improvement in their beer selection however.

Very good beer selection here, a wide range of singles/bombers/4/6-packs/gift boxes. Huge variety, much more than I was expecting when I walked in here. Lots of Goose Island, AleSmith, and Southern Tier. Decent service too; I wasn’t helped as I was just browsing, but I went the Saturday before Christmas and the guy in charge of beer sounded very knowledgeable and directed many customers towards beer (good beer) based on what they asked for.

In the ratebeer brew tour guide it says that if a single bottle isn’t priced, they usually charge $1.50 for it. I don’t know if that is true or not, but the gentleman working there said every unmarked 12 oz single bottle is $3. He actually warned me how expensive a 6 pack of these unmarked beers would be (something like 3x6 = 18 ).

(Visited 12/2007): West Point Market is located on W. Market between downtown Akron and Fairlawn. Parking is plentiful in their private lot, however finding a close spot might be a chore on a busy day. WPM is a grocery store but definitely caters to the high-end stuff. The beer section is on the right side of the store with both coolers and shelves. The shelves are divided to some degree by geography. Everything is well-organized and easy to see. There are singles of just about everything available which is a bonus. The beer selection is impressive. Local/Regional goodies from GLBC, Hoppin’ Frog (their Brewmaster just happened to be there that day serving samples), Bell’s et al were mingled with well-known micros like Stone, Moylan’s, DFH, 3F, etc. Imports were well-represented as well. There were sections devoted to Russia, Belgium, etc. Again, all very well organized. Service here was fine. There was a person hanging around the beer area answering questions and he was knowledgeable about the beers. He may have been there due to the Hoppin’ Frog sampling that was going on but either way it was nice, and the customers were keeping him busy looking for various things. Overall, despite the appearance of possibly being a pretentious store I found it to be a great place to find beer that was well cared-for and handled by people who respect it. Definitely worth re-visiting the next time I am in Akron.

This is one of the nicer mom and pop grocery stores you will find. It as a great selection of coffee and teas as well as wine, cheese and beer. The amount of micros and imports is pretty impressive. I have never gone to the West Point market in more than once every 3-4 months, so the selection seems to keep moving. They always seem to have a good selection of the seasonals. for awhile, they were the only place to pick up a bottle of the Hopping Frog brews. However, do the nature of the store, I have found the bottle price is usually more than other stores in the area....If the other stores have the beer you want.

In the area so I was able to stop by and check this place out. It’s a very upscale store offering a wide selection of gourmet foods, wines, and beer. Borderline snobby, I did find the workers to be very friendly. Beer selection was extremely impressive, full line of respectable craft brewers along with a huge list of Belgians and other well noted imports. Biggest drawback are the prices. Sixers and bombers mostly appeared to be marked up by at least a couple dollars compared to other local stores. Due to the vast array of beers including many hard to find singles and bombers I recommend stopping by, but beware of sticker shock.

A great place to bring your significant other. While you look at the large beer selection, she can check out all the fancy food. Yes, for the most part this is a fancy grocery store. However, they have one of the best beer sections in town (most definitely the in Akron/Canton). Recently, I have noted a further increase in their beer selection. Of course, if you have 500+ ratings you are not likely to find anything new, but they have a very wide selection. If you are ever in the Akron area, it is worth a stop. Best of all, they will sell singles of anything! I must state that this Is CLEARLY NOT your typical grocery store beer selection (miller/coors/budweiser products make up less than 5% of the shelves)

This isn’t really a beer drinkers Valhalla. It’s really an upscale grocery that also has some beer. Not really recommended if you are looking just for beer. However, if you are also a food buff, its a great place. Excellent selection of meats/cheeses as well as wine. A little pricey, but thats kind of the idea - it’s a specialty shop. Its worth a look, but not if all you want is beer. Same beer selection as most grocery stores.

An upscale grocery store on the west side of Akron. Beer aisle is well stocked with many imports ans micros. Mix your own six at a reasonable price. Many singles available on the top shelf of the cooler.
