Haven’t eaten here, but the beer list has been disappointing whenever I have gone. Some craft but nothing to blow me away.

Last stop on a recent trip to Cambridge, Hamilton, and Niagara Falls with mrmanning. The Golden Kiwi is a beautiful, tropical-themed pub and restaurant in the heart of downtown Cambridge. We sat at the Tiki Bar and received excellent, friendly service from proprietor Len Owens, who used to grace the label of Grand River’s Curmudgeon IPA. The draught selection is very large and included Beau’s Bog Water, Black Oak Pale Ale, Fuller’s Bengal Lancer, Stone Hammer Oatmeal Coffee Stout, Grand River Plowman’s Ale & Mill Race Mild, Wellington County Dark, Warsteiner Dunkel, and one or two St. Ambroise taps on our visit. In the past they’ve acquired rare beers that have barely shown up elsewhere in the province, such as Fuller’s Mr. Harry and Hacker Pschorr Braumeister Pils. Len proved to be anything but a curmudgeon as he told us the story behind the restaurant, his unauthorized appearance on the IPA label, and an upcoming "marché-style" beer dinner with brews from Fuller’s, Grand River, McAuslan, and Beau’s. He also let me borrow the phone when I realized I had left my license at The Winking Judge. My pad Thai was superbly tasty and I was pleased to find the Bog Water on tap, which I hadn’t sampled before coming here. Beer prices are slightly steep, however, as you can expect to pay $7.25 for most 20 oz imperial pints. Overall, the Kiwi is an obvious destination in Cambridge and one of the better beer bars in Ontario. A strong commitment to craft, quirky New Zealand/"down under" atmosphere, awesome cuisine, and chatty approachable service with a smile.

A great spot, in a town. Visited early on a Tuesday afternoon and was glad to find it open. We sat at the Tiki Bar and were greeted by a very pretty young lady whose name I did not get ( and regretted). Len, the owner, took over afterward. Atmosphere was quaint,homey, with an obvious New Zealand flare, including the music selection. Seemed to have a beach house vibe to it on one side, and a fine dining aspect ion the other side.Service was above average with candid conversation. Many taps here, over 20 between the two sections of the bar. I had Bengal Lancer and a surprise, Beaus Bogwater. Both were fresh and tasty. I ordered the blue cod fish burger for lunch which was well proportioned and tasty and came with a classic ceasar salad. All was well on this front. Prices for food were great, not so much for the beer, but that won’t stop me from coming back when I am back in town.

Fantastic place.. I wish I didn’t have to drive there! A great place if you are local, driving through, or in town for business. Huge selection of Scotch and beer. Mostly Ontario Craft Brewers (Grand River Brewing) and some specialty imports.

Visited on a quiet Saturday afternoon in October, this dark little pub packs some interesting highlights. Definitely a New Zealand flare with Kiwi-inspired decor and perceived laissez-faire attitude. Beer selection is small but local and tasty, and food is fairly filling and good (though there was a slight mix-up with the order that eventually got sorted out). Service is friendly enough and very laid back as he joined us for a drink. Wouldn’t seek it out otherwise but glad to have stopped here for a pint.

Fresh Grand River beers on tap. Dark and dingy, but large, and in a decent part of town. Front bar smells. Owner, whose picture graces Grand River IPA bottle is 65 - how much longer can the place stay open?

Neat place in downtown Galt. Very good selection of multiple Grand River, F&M, Mill Street, McAuslan and Fullers beers on tap. Service was quite knowledgable. Pretty unique ambiance with lots of New Zealand themed things - seemed a little odd at first but much better than being another faux English/Irish pub. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in these parts (as for example to go to the Grand River brewery to pick up some beer).

this place as nice as any ive every been too. great service allthough it seemed a bit under staffed. knowlegdebale employees served quality pints all night for myself and the crew i went with. very good local micro selection on tap but no bottlle list to speak of. i had some crab cakes that were nice but not overly great. all be back for more and review as i see fit.

I finally got around to checking out this fine establishment yesterday evening. The beers available range from local craft stuff to European macros, and some good imported stuff. Fullers ESB, London Pride and Porter, Hacker Pschorr Braumeister Pils, all of Grand Rivers stuff, and St Amboise Oatmeal Stout and Pale Ale are some of their options amongst a number of other things. The menu is very tantalizing and generally items are priced fairly and on par with a decent night out without TOO large a hit to the pocket book. It is the theme and decoration of the place that is really amazing. The place just SCREAMS New Zealand. All sorts of cool looking stuff all over the place, with some very classy and inviting other elements thrown in. There are TWO bars, one at one end of the building, and the other as part of a lounge area in the back. Lots of space in between to eat. The service is very friendly and helpful, many of the employees have Kiwi accents so I can only assume it is almost a family run establishment.
