Sadly now closed. The brewer Max had really turned around the beers at this pub, some very nice unique styles came out in the last year. IIPA, Tripel, Dubbel, Scottish, Framboise and Kriek both aged in barrels, Smoked Helles, and many more. The pub was only open on saturdays for tastings and low price pints. The restaurant next door was nasty, smoke and skank fill the air.

Free beer tastings on Saturdays. The brewer is kind of edgy, but nice. A strange place, no food served, but not really just a bar. Really the only reason for going there would be to try the beers. They make some very interesting brews (all Kosher) and it will be interesting to see how the brewery develops.

I went there late in the evening and sat in an uncomfortable chair in a smoky hick bar drinking what I considered to be subpar beer. Hmm... now that I hear what Buck Dich experienced I guess I did it all wrong, so take my visit as a warning. Unless you just really love stale cigarette smoke, avoid the restaurant.

Unique story on this one. There's 2 parts to this establishment. There's the brewery, which is in a seperate building east of the Restaurant (Tuck's Fried Chicken & Cider Mill) that's closed except for free tastings on Saturdays. I had no idea of this so I pulled up the Brewery and tried to open the doors...locked (as to be expected). I turned to go to the restaurant when I see two guys coming towards the brewery waiving their hands. I stopped there and they introduced themselves as the Max the brewmaster and his assistant. He was apparently playing jazz in the restaurant and had a break in between sets. He went ahead and let me into the brewery which has lots of seating setup just like a pub. A bar with many taps. The brewer casually let me try any of the taps, I tried a Strong ale, a porter and an alt; all very well done. We talked about the Portland brew scene along with some random beer trivia stuff. It was a great setting here. He invited me over to the restaurant to hear him play so I did. He bought me a pint of the alt and I listened to a set of Jazz. It was truley a surreal experience coupled with good timing. Max is definately a polite gentleman and I will be returning here upon my next visit. The reason for the low quality score is that the restaurant sucks. Smoky sleezy bar feel, you know the routine. Just go on saturday tastings, that's my recommendation.
