A nice, small BBQ joint and brewery. The beers were good, and our server particularly interested in beer. I will have to come back for the BBQ, as it smelled quite good.

Narrow brewpub located on what seemed to be the main strip through the city. Long bar with plenty of seats along with tables and booths filling out the rest of the space. Pretty typical decor. House beers were all solid with 1 or 2 standouts. Bartender was very friendly and spent most of her time talking beer with us. Didn’t eat here, but the pulled pork barbecue definitely smelled good when we walked in.

Located in downtown Manheim in what looks to be a former hotel building. Parking is available in the back. They had 9-10 things on draft. The beers were solid but none was spectacular. The barbecue was decent. There was some smokiness to the meat but the sauces were not very good especially the Carolina style which seemed like pure vinegar. The prices were insanely high. Ten bucks for a pork sandwich and fries seems about 25-40% higher than what you’d pay down south. The servers seemed nice enough, but I can’t say they had a passion for beer.

Stopped in here to get a flight and try the beers. Did not buy food, so I cannot comment on that. The bar is like a lot of small town Pennsylvania bars, except they make their own beer on premises. The beers were decent and the people were friendly. I look forward to spending some more time there to eat and enjoy more offerings.

Stopped into JoBoy’s on my way to the Sutter’s Fall Cask Ale Festival to get some lunch. The road it is on, Main Street, is currently under construction so getting there was pretty fun. Finally got to the rear parking lot and walked through the ridiculously tiny walk way to arrive at the front door. Upon entering I realized that this place is much bigger than I thought it was. A small seating area at the front of the place, the bar area, and a few dining rooms make up the space. I sat at the bar and was greeted by a very nice bartender. I ordered a 10mo. RIS and it was pretty good. I noticed a few other things on the tap list that I would have liked to try but I had to save room for the festival. I took a look at the menu and I decided on the brisket platter with mac n cheese, baked beans, and corn bread. I thug the BBQ was excellent, as were the beans, but the mac n cheese was good and I didn’t much care for the corn bread. Prices were a little high for my liking. I thought the food was about right but the beer prices were a little high. Overall I really enjoyed my trip to JoBoy’s and I will definitely return the next time I am in the area.

Our first visit and it won’t be the last. The service was fast and friendly and not overdone. The food was very good, I had the briskit, my wife the ribs. But aside from the beer, of course, the star of the menu was the smoked cabbage wedge appetizer. Fantastic!

It’s only 5 miles down the road from the renaissance faire ... nice pub feel long bar as you walk in with the owner/brewer behind there taking care of you ... in the back rooms you have one eating area with tables booths and a tv (we watched the phils kick butt in game 1 of the nlds) the other eating area is more family oriented with just tables and a restaurant feel .... the service was prompt and the food was excellent southern style bbq (owners from North Carolina) just the chips and salsa were disappointing for 6 bucks get the nachos for 2 bucks more .... Value was average but worth it the brews (8 on tap and unfiltered) German Wheat and IPA were great, the rest average but decent 15-18 bucks for a growler fill. The owner brews once or twice on a small 15 gallon system and he keeps the website updated which is great. All in all if your in the area definitely check this place out.

Ate at JoBoy’s for the first time tonight and really enjoyed. We sat at the bar and chatted with Jeff, the owner, and had a great time. He’s a very nice person and down-to-earth. Plus, he was very quick to let us sample the different drafts. I tried the Wheat and the IPA. Both were very good, but the IPA is a standout. The food was excellent (BBQ Pork Platter) and the service was great. It’s a neat little spot in downtown Manheim with parking behind. It’s a neat place, but I think they’ve outgrown the place so expect more selection on draft should they move. Give it a shot; it’s worth the drive.

This is a great BBQ joint cum- nanobrewery, situated in an old turn of the century house. They offer great Carolina style BBQ (mixed platter was a great deal at 18$, huge portions which fed me 2 days). The beers are decent, the lighter ones being good quaffers, a decent IPA, but some others a tad unbalanced. 5 X 4 on. sampler for 9$. If you like BBQ, go there.

Went here with the family weekend of 8/19/10. Place has a front room with a few tables and a bigger area in back. Decent decor, nothing to write home about but quaint and pleasant, with a 10 seater or so bar and wood interior. The beer menu had 5 selections, and the red was off, then on again, so it seemed our waitress was a bit confused about the beer lineup and the sampler criteria. I had the patriot pale, IPA, stout, red, and Belgian dubbel. The beeres were all unfiltered, all decent but not world beaters. The food was the standout. Great BBQ chicken, ribs, pork, and my wife got a delicious slider trio. The fries were home cut and perfectly salted, and the corn bread, cole slaw, beans, and hot dogs were great. The chips and salsa were a big rip off; a small container of Herr’s round tostilla chips with fresh salsa. An OK place, but expensive, and the server was very nice and fairly quick. Added 28-Aug-2011. Went here again and they had 7 beers on tap, the service was excellent, and the food was as delicious as the first time. The porter was a standout, and the IPA continued to wow me. Worth a trip.
