8 Alas, Ludwig’s is CLOSED. |
80 A wonderful German tap selection, from fresh hefeweizen, to the lighter pilsner / lager, to the Aventinus. The German food was really not that authentic, or perhaps I should say just wasn’t that good, not to be compared to what was served on my past Germany trips. Service, though is quite friendly, the atmosophere relaxed, very unstuffy, yet not rough or bar-like either. A relatively short walk from Monks Cafe, worthy of a visit. |
68 [I’ve heard a couple rumors that Ludwig’s won’t be around much longer. If you’ve been meaning to go, you might want to make it soon rather than later...]
Great if you like German food and beers. Good selection of lagers, bocks and pils. Food is ok - I’m not a fan of onions and it’s tough to avoid in |
50 Doesn’t seem to get alot of business but, a nice place. Intresting food some nice beers. I nice place to stop if your in the area. Parking lot accros the street if you don’t mind paying some bucks. Other parking is difficult. |
54 I was a little disappointed. I hear they’re closing due to condo construction. Clean, but a nice German pub atmosphere. I had the sausage/cheese/crackers plate, but it was good and plenty for dinner. Parking sucks. |
50 Ludwig’s was a pleasant surprise of a drinking hole that happened to be around the corner from where i work. I was pretty surprised with the beer selection which of course was German. Overall, I wished they focused less on having several different styles of Spaten and more on expanding a selection. Food seemed average at best with a less than impressive presentation. However, patrons were top notch and happy to engage in conversation and share the beer knowledge. It doesn’t look like much from the outside, but can surprise if you enter. |
74 Nice selection of beers way back in 2001. Taste samichclaus from tap for the first time, and also for the first time the Austria version. Older version is made in Suisse |
80 Stopped in for an appetizer and a few German brews during happy hour. Not an amazing selection, but some good solid Germans, I stuck with the drafts and was happy with the beers I tried, and enjoyed having Celebrator on tap. Service was exceedingly friendly and a very cozy comfortable atmosphere. Menu was not extensive but the mussels I had were tasty, and there was a number of traditional German items. I would not call this a beer destination but a great German tavern nonetheless. |
66 Decent amount of german beer on tap, as well as bottled, There were some gems, but a lot of easily found German average brews. I guess i was expecting a little more, maybe i am greedy, i was also at monks cafe that same day. It is not a bad place, the food was decent, just nothing sttod out to me. trip into the city again, i would pass on this place and stay at Monk’s Cafe all day long. |
64 Theres an okay amount of german beers here. Ayinger, wehenstephaner, Hacker Shore, Schneider aventinus etc etc. The food menu was bland and the service was ok but if you are looking for a german beer they got em. They lied to us on the phone however and told us there were certain beers on draft and certain bottles there and that just was not the case. |
