Visited on Saturday afternoon 8th Sep 2018. Large and pleasant beer garden with a lovely view but only one beer on tap (Rauch Lager). Long way to walk for one beer, even if it's interesting and good. We didn't eat but everybody else seemed to be, so I assume the foods good. sevice was friendly and swift.
Located at a gorgeous hilltop location overlooking Bamberg. We ventured here for the Ungespundet, but they only had the Rauch. Luckily the Spezial brewery location was able to provide an Ungespundet. The Keller is definitely worth it for the location.
I went there for the Spezial beers, because the brewery itself closes early on saturdays. I didn't regret it at all, what a lovely place! Propably the most beautiful view on Bamberg you can get at any beer place. Located on top of an idyllic, quiet hill about a 15 minutes walk from the cathedral area. Small, very cosy place, with clean, wooden interior. When I went there, only locals were there and I didn't have trouble finding a seat, which was a bit surprising, as I was expecting more tourists. They also have a small beer garden, which should be great in summer, because of the view.
They offered 4 different Spezial beers from tap, also the seasonal Bock, which I had and the Ungespunded. Both outstanding Lagers! Food menu wasn't extensive, but down to earth and tasty. Prices are good. The waitresses were very friendly and attentive. Will definitely go there again at my next visit, highly recommended!

Old pub in the center of Bamberg. Unfriendly waiters (but thats quite normal in Bavaria), great beers from the tap, great food, good prices and overall very authentic. A bit touristic though. A must visit when you are in Bamberg.
In nice weather, this is surely the place to hang out when in Bamberg. A cosy little place a short little walk up on top of the hill, with a not all too big garden and as good a view as you?ll get in Bamberg. Serves Spezial Rauchbier Lager from cask in ceramic mugs, and a limited selection of other Spezial beers in bottles. Not much, but all that?s needed. Add some food, good service and brilliant ambiance, and it adds up as one of the absolute top places in town.
Visited Oct 2016. This beergarden has a great location, perched on one of the hills overlooking the city. Service was friendly and efficient. Selection limited and same as at the brewery in the centre of town. Food was good, though we only had snacks / soups. Prices good. Definitely worth a visit, particularly on a sunny summer’s day.
