Had a few Sake flights with Mark. Nice small set of appetizers mostly. Very good service and lots of explanation. The prices are quite fair for really good Sake. No idea that this is part of a hostel. Easy to find from the station. Really worth visiting for awesome Sake.

A good sake bar. Apparently, this is also a hostel, but didn’t see any guests. We were the only customers on an early Friday evening (except for one guy crashed out at a low table in the tatami area at the back). Friendly staff, who chatted with us about the sake they served. Very low-key, relaxed atmosphere. Only one beer (Yebisu) on tap. Small menu of appetizers, which are slightly pricey but interesting and tasty (e.g. crackers with sliced fermented fruit on Camembert). From Keihan Gion Shijo Station, take Exit 9, go up the stairs, and it’s the first place you’ll see on the right.

Man I was sure I’d already rated this place. If you’re looking to try a variety of sakes for a reasonable price in a chill setting this is the place for you. Long bar along the left of the space with some couches and tables on the right and I believe a tatami space at the back. When you tire of trying the local craft beers pop in to this fairly central loacation for some sakes, I just wish it opened earlier than 5pm.

This is a hostel with the ground floor having a tiny cafe and craft sake bar. The staff is fluent in English and are sake experts. You can do various sake tasting flights for very reasonable prices - around ¥1000. We were able to try a large variety of sakes separated out by region. Tasting glasses are different shapes to help you keep them organized and not accidently mix them up. Pours are generous I thought. The staff were more than enthusiastic to discuss sake and make recommendations based on our favorites. Really fun place, chill vibe, recommended.

All Sake all the time. Awesome staff, great selection of sake, order a sample tray of the flavours you like and they will provide. End the night with a bottle of sparkling and all is good.

This is a sake bar. They have only one beer on tap, Yebisu. But they have a ton of great craft sakes from all over Japan. There are several tasting flights to choose from, ¥1,000-1,200 for three. These are a great deal and generally the best way to go. They get really great stuff in here. They speak English well and welcome foreigners. Really an accessible and comfy place if you want to try lots of great sakes--best I know in Kyoto. There are no prices on the menu for single glasses, though, so you have to be careful if you are on a budget. Also, the menu does not really reflect the stock, you need to ask.

Really good sake bar. Great and extensive selection of sakes. English speaking and friendly staff. After have complimented on a sake which I specially liked they arranged for me to pick up a couple of bottles of it a few days later. They have a beer on tap but I never seen them pour anything from it. If you would choose one place to go to in Kyoto this is the one.

The place rocked. A youth hostel with a very stylish sake bar on the 1st floor. Very modern, but done in a traditional Japanese manner. Sake was awesome. I asked for the 1000 yen three set sampler of something sweet and funky. What I got was waaaay funkier than expected, but truly awesome awesome rare sake. Staff speak English, are friendly and can offer suggestions. If you don’t mind staying in a hostel, this place is the perfect place for a tourist to stay in Kyoto. In, or near, Gion district. Top-shelf all the way.

What a fantastic place. Come here to get your sake drinking on. Staff were brilliant making recommendations of the more obscure sake’s. Wonderful bar.
