Pit stop on my way to Craft Bier Cafe, coming from Beergeek. This was an extraordinary cold day, so it was very nice to step inside this restaurant/brewpub, first impression this one gives me a German Bierstube feeling, wooden benches and interior. I had 2 beers from them, served in 0,3 pour, not anything special about them, more on the dull side of German styles, service was OK, the food looked good, nice stop on the way to Craft Bier Cafe.

We stopped past Tolstiy Fraer on the way to Craft Bier Cafe. It is a fairly dark & dingy German-styled brewpub. The beer selection is located within the menu they provide you with on entering, but it does require a bit of searching through. They had 6 of their own beers available in 0.3l and upwards pours. Beers are fairly average, with the porter being the pick of the bunch for us. Value is exceptional. We had out cheapest beers in Russia here! Not a place I would go out my way for, but it is literally on the way to the much better Craft Bier Cafe, so why not?

A small chain of brewpubs in Saint-Petersburg. The beer isn’t brewed on site but in another location just outside of town. It is their own beer however. If you visit the website you can find the other locations fairly easily, this is the only one I’ve been in when I was there. The beers are not particularly awesome but they do offer a variety of six different styles which is good by the standards of what I saw in Petersburg. The porter was good, the other beers were alright if a little watery. They have a very complete menu with both Soviet/Russian classics and American pub food. It is on the expensive side of things for this city but still decently priced. The ambiance is fun, it is entirely smoking though, as many places in Russia are. Decent stop.
