Mainly their own beers on tap, but a larger selection from other breweries in bottles. Didn’t manage to stay long due to the long time it took at the "fast" food place next door (40+ min for a burger). The beer was ok, but nothing fantastic. Worth a stop if you happen to be in the area, but nothing to go out of the way for.
First time visitor to Latvia, Riga visit due to RBESG. My visit on Thursday July 20, 2017.
Walked over after our visit to ’Alus Darbnica Labietis’, and a pit stop for "fast" food next door. Not a very long stay for me, since I was one of the ones having "slow" food next door. Service sort of OK, but seemed to be difficult to get through what you wanted to order. The two beers I had time for were in good condition. Selection lacking.

A pleasant if slightly staid cafe serving mostly Valmiermuiža beers. The tap selection is admittedly a bit ho-hum but there is a bottle fridge with more innovative, ’craftier’ beers from Valmiermuiža. I’m not overly familiar with the local beer scene so from my point of view it’s a brilliant opportunity to get ticking. Reasonable prices.
Visit 07-2012. A modern-looking shop and the café if also connected to the Valmiermuiža brewery. They sell their own beers, plus local cheese, sausage, cakes. Very stylish and pleasant, and good - excellent service. They do serve food also in cafe, but I didn’t try it. Not easy to find. It’s not on the street, but had to go throu the parking lot, that kind of opens from the street, where you had to walk into. The place is one of many in a bigger complex at the very back.
THE olace to try the full range of Valmiermuiža beers, from the main plant and the new microbrewery. The food here is (i) exquisite, (ii) painfully slow slow and (iii) in tiny portions. Remember nouvelle cuisine anyone? Hence the low rating for service.
This place isn’t as good as it seems to think it is ! Had about 5 of their own beers on tap, but didn’t seem to understand which one I wanted (Kviesu). Had a number of bottles displayed on the counter, but on closer inspection these turned out to be all their own as well. There may have been others in the fridge, but it was impossible to see, that there are no lists. Service left a lot to be desired, One staff member spent most of the time sitting down in a corner behind the bar, so he couldn’t be seen from anywhere else ! And contrary to a previous poster food here is NOT cheap. Can get crowded during the week, but was virtually empty on a Sunday evening last time I went.
A very short stumble from Labietis brewpub, meaning you get two for the price of one when it comes to the 30-minute stroll here from the Old Town. Good selection of beers, mostly from the Valmiermuiza brewery. The Abula was particularly good. Staff are fairly helpful and informative but too cool to bother thanking people who tip them (which I suppose at least saves the need to tip them on the next round). The whole place has a bit of a ‘too cool for school’ vibe: it was the most hipster places we went to in Riga, but I suppose some people like that sort of thing. Will certainly be back.
