Nice to reach place in the centre of Strasbourg, actually went there for there cheap, but tasty Flammkuchen, but was surprised that it is also a brewery.
Food is really good, and compared to Straßburg’s other restaurants pretty cheap. They have 4 of there own beers on tap, which are decent. Overall cosy place to eat, the beer is a nice bonus!
This was a pleasant enough Brewpub in the touristy area of Strasbourg, with the Strasbourg pricing. Looks like the beers on tap are all their own plus a few bottles from elsewhere, I obtained a flight of 4 beers that they had produced over the previous week from a very friendly bar-girl. Inside is quite dim and brown but modern enough and the brewing equipment is on view. The food is pretty decent too. We quite liked it.
I don’t know if it was because we are thirsty and hungry, but the food was fantastic and went very well with the beers.
The service was a little slow at the beginning, though. I guess we arrived when the shift was changing.
Visited on the 3/10-2012.
Nice brewpub, placed on a corner, close to the city center, with many outdoors seating as well. As far as I know they only serve their own beers. They do food as well, and I got the impression, that this place is more a restaurent, than a brewpub, the staff knew very little of the beers.
Belgian type place with wooden interior. Fancy bar with brewing kettles in the middle. 4 house beers plus one special (Rouge). The food "she" ordered (Tartes Flambees) looked good but smelled awful. All in all ok place but do bother to come on happy hour when prices are much lower.
It was about 14hr00 on a normal week day in June 2012 when my German girlfriend and myself walked in for a quick lunch. We were shocked at the total lack of welcome and the ridiculously bad service which eventually led me to tell the waitress that I had never before anywhere in the world felt such an inconvenience as a client expecting the most basic service. Although at the time the restaurant inside was almost empty, we were told not to sit at the table which we had selected. After I personally cleaned our table, came the only waitress, obviously very stressed, who told us that if we wanted some food, we had to eat quickly because she was on her way out! We ordered a Tarte Flambée, a beer and some wine in spite of having been told that the "Pinot Noir" was very "noir"! (I took this comment as the 3rd or 4th deliberate sign of inconsideration and reject with a smile as we were in a happy holiday mood.) A few seconds after virtually throwing our plate of food in front of us, she came almost in an aggressive manner and said "Please pay now because I am leaving!" This is when I allowed myself to comment in a normal tone about her poor welcome and service. And when she started to shout at me, I reminded her that the owners were free to open or close the premisses at any time that suits them. But if it is open, then they have only one legal right which is to serve the clients with a minimum of politeness. Dommage" for the stinking service because the Tarte was very good! Great place and and at least a genuine brewpub. It’s out of the main centre by a few streeets so doesn’t suffre from the mass tourist invasion. Both the beers and food were excellent. it’s a bit dark and gloomy inside but there is seating outside but it’s great ti sit inside a few feet from where the beer is conditioning.
