72 Visited on a Sunday in February 2020. A fairly large place located close to the Yarra River.I had a couple of domectic beers. (I prefer to drink Belgian beer in Belgium or at home in Sweden) A relaxed atmosphere on a Sunday, the service was good. |
66 A modern looking bar close to the Yarra on the South Bank. Lots of tiles inside and a big wooden bar with a sizeable patio out front which is ideal in the summer time. They have a decent Belgian and Aussie tap selection. Service is good and Wi-Fi works. Not such a bad place and worth a visit if you are in the area. |
72 Now that they’ve dumped the fixation on Belgian beers and started adding Australian craft beers it’s a much more interesting place. Packed after work on Fridays (and Wed/Thu if the weather’s good). Service is generally good, though if it’s packed it won’t matter. Food is Belgian standards done reasonably well. |
76 I don’t usually come down to Southbank during my Melbourne visits but over the weekend made the effort to check the area out. Other than Hophaus and the Belgian Beer Cafe, I’m unaware of any other beer focused bars and restaurants in the area, so choice is limited. The positive with BBC is that they actually have a real decent selection of Aussie craft beer on tap, so don’t expect to be stuck with Hoegaarden and Leffe here. The bartender was generous with sample pours before committing to a glass, and even poured a few to try without my asking. Bonus points for service on that front with enthusiastic and chatty staff. After a couple of glasses and a bunch of tasters I left slightly buzzed and happy. |
72 Been to a few Belgian Beer cafes around the world but this is probably one of the best. I was there for Zwanze day so hard to judge on some things but overall great selection with staff that know what they’re doing. Of course, you can’t be a mediocre place and be one of the official Zwanze locations. |
78 Friendly helpful staff. Huge bottle list and good choice on taps. Good hearty food. Ambience mixed - modern retail unit but with good restrained furnishing and pleasant background music - comfortable. |

56 Visited on July 30, 2013. Walked over to teh Eureka tower from the Southbank edge of the Yarra river. Pretty quiet place shortly after lunch, much seating available both indoors and outdoors. Mainly Belgian beers, so for Oz craft beer hunting not the best place to go. Had a Cascade First Harvest draught then headed out again. Centrally located, easy walk from Flinders Street station. Service was ok. Didn’t eat. |
62 Nice location, but seems a bit sterile, with crome and glass. Service was decent but could be better. They do have a good selection of Belgian beers and they do carry some Aussie craft beers. Nice place for a quiet beer. |
76 Despite the name, the Belgian Beer Cafe Eureka is serving a good selection of Aussie craft beers to complement their namesake country. Had some very nice Aussie ales here, along with the "usual suspects" of Belgian beer. Went there at a quiet time, so the atmosphere was a little subdued, but that was exactly what I was looking for. The staff were great and very willing to offer advice. |
