Finally. Awesome kellerbier. Cozy and local. Welcoming and friendly. Not easy to reach within opening hours but in the summer you can have the beers at both their Kreuzberg keller and the dorfkeller. This time I got their pils and lager, which on previous visits at their Kreuzberg keller claimed they never had brewed :-)

I was there with SinH4 below and can only mirror his sentiment.

The opening hours here are not right. You can only eat on Fridays, and it's closed on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays (at least that's how the owner told us, but you never know, he didn't go into much detail). The opening hours being wrong actually lead to one of the most memorable beer experiences of my life: Long story short, we were there on a Saturday, and the place was closed. The owner was home, though, and after a little chat, he let us in and poured us beer. After the first Seidla was poured, the keg kicked and before we could say we're happy with just one Seidla he went downstairs, tapped a new keg, drainpoured the beer he had already poured and poured us three super fresh Seidla. We already had a bad conscious for making so much trouble, but he seemed to be happy about us wanting to try his beer. Then he sat down with us and chatted a bit about where we know his beer from and about the problems that small Franconian brewers are facing nowadays. The beer was in a ridiculously good shape and unspeakably tasty, such that it could easily compete with Witzgall in its prime condition, in fact, it was much better for me in that moment than the particular bottles of Witzgall we had the night before at Witzgall. I give this the perfect 100 because this pleasantly surprising beer experience was totally worth it, and everything fit together today. There's no way to not give a full 15 in Selection because the beer is exactly what you want from such a place, there's no way to not give a full 10 in service considering what Mister Lieberth did for us, and there's no way to not give a full 20 overall considering the experience.

Visited Thursday 23rd April .. We came here because I think their beer is one of the best all around !! To be honest this time it was a bit sulfur but who knows this kind of brewery already know that it can happen sometime .. Anyway this is another tipical example of brauhaus in Franconia and I prefer lieberth than rittmaier In hallerndorf .. Come here for the beer , drink it and that’s it !!

Stopped by for some bottles, as the restaurant wasn’t open for a few hours. Chatted with the brewer about his recent trip to Belgium and he sold me two nice lagers. Want to go back for the Kellerbier.

Good beers, but no real stars. Place itself is nice.

a gem of Franconia, one I will revisit often. you wouldn’t know it from the ratings, but Lieberth is producing some amazing lager. from the ratings Lieberth seemed like just another stop on the day’s ride through the area. instead what we happened upon was some superb pilsner and lagerbier. no, these aren’t wild experiments pushing the traditional German recipes to the extreme - these are lagers of Bavaria without flaws. the brewer Christian makes only lagerbier, pils and kellerbier (which is the same pils but left unfiltered - compare the ratings and you’ll see the difference is not because of filtration, but because the pils is available in bottle and can be rated at a ticker tasting by those who care not for German lager). the space itself is small but boisterous at night once it fills up, beer quality much higher than Rittmayer a couple of doors down, and the brewer Christian is a class act and very welcoming and accommodating, as we visited during off-hours in the afternoon earlier in the day and he showed us around and chatted. we came back that night and consumed many more crocs of the wonderful kellerbier. It’s more of a winter place than summer, when the keller is open and the brauerei closed. That’s the reason I seem to be the only person to rate the brewery itself and not the Dorfkeller.
