Big fancy place with old style look, quite some cranes but nothing too interesting. Arrogant preppy student crowd on this friday night and some desperate nerdy boys staring at some out of their league boobies. Feeling old and weird between the kids, let’s go somewhere else.
Visited 2 times. Classic bar. Belgian type. Nice atmosphere. Well known Belgian selection on tap, Nothing hard to find/get. Friendly service. Prices are ok.

We visited Café De Pintelier on Friday 2nd October 2015, and yet again it was a most wonderful day, quite how long we can ride this amazing good fortune with the weather remains to be seen, but every year we come away about the same week for Borefts and after and every year we’ve been lucky, this year being particularly sunny. The bar describes itself as a Belgian Beer Café so it is no surprise to see the list swamped with a large array of Belgian beers, but it’s a big list and whilst there are few surprises the extensive choice should keep most people happy. Café De Pintelier is quite centrally located not that far from the Vlismarkt, it is down to tiny narrow street called Kleine Kromme Elleboog you can see De Pintelier at the end and then a branch off to the right leads to a sort of cul-de-sac or more accurately a square at which this and another establishment utilise the space with outside tables. De Pintelier looks quite
an historic building from the outside with two sides accessible I guess it sort of sits on a corner. Inside it is a little dark, it’s a long oblong room with a huge long bar that really takes up much of the space save for a seating area at the far end which has a number of tables. Going back to the bar I think that I counted 24-25 stools up to it which gives you some appreciation of its size. I liked this bar, the barman/waiter was really efficient and quite funny amusing himself (and Loz) by repeating back my pronunciation of beers. We spent a pleasant 30-40 mins here with an Orval (Loz) and a Jambe De Bois me.
Very nice, old fashioned bar with wooden panels, brass and brown interior. In a narrow alley in inner city Groningen. Fine selection on tap, mainly Belgian with a few Dutch exceptions. Nice service on this quiet Wednesday night, bartender had time to chat and offered me samples. Well worth a visit.
