NOT A BEER DESTINATION, at all. But they were serving various sweetwater brews in big blue cups so I guess that’s better than the Miller Lite and Yuengling of old. But I might rather have had that swill. This place, when not in the smaller upstair bar area, is like a glorified outdoor house party where you can’t smoke or suck on balloons. Boo.

He’s Not is the greatest bar on Earth, literally. It may not have the greatest beer selection, but bars are about more than just beer selection. That being said, He’s Not has improved it’s beer selection going from cheap beer to better beers like Sweetwater. As previously stated, the magic of He’s Not lies in the Blue Cup, an international icon of the greatest, yet most simple invention of all time....a blue plastic 32oz cup that prides the branding of the bar the and city. Combined with sitting outside in an awesome beer garden under the stars, there’s nothing better in the whole world than drinking a Blue Cup at He’s Not. Did I mention they have Nudie Photohunt? Yes They Can.

"He’s Not" is a world famous dive bar in Chapel Hill with 32oz blue cups that are known the world over. I have even seen He’s Not bumper stickers in Mumbai, India and Freetown, Sierra Leone. This is the diviest of dive bars in CH that calls itself a beer garden. That is technically correct- most of the seating is outdoors in the dirt with picnic tables. A small outside bar in the "garden" and the main bar upstairs. Downstairs is open air for beer pong. Three toilets unisex downstairs are hit or miss. Men’s restroom upstairs is urinal trough ONLY and can be a be ripe smelling inside. Beers on tap have been getting progressively BETTER since I graduated from UNC, so expect now a decent selection of Woodchuck ciders, Boulder Beer, Sweetwater, Natty Greene’s, Sierra Nevada, Magic Hat, Saranac. B to C level stuff. They will pour it into a clear, plastic 12oz glass or a massive, reusable 32oz blue cup that is only $5! If you are not drinking a blue cup, someone may think you are insane. So value is huge, beer selection is okay, ambiance is very divey and college kid explosion. It is an essential Chapel Hill experience with the plus side of perhaps some decent beer. Come with friends, don’t expect much, and you may be surprised.
