dreadfully disapointing. This place used to be good but its a dreadful cliche and tourist trap now. Awful staff that know nothing about the beer, although they have a large selection, its over populated with novelty beers. What a shame. Avoid the awful pantomime piano and karaoke style pub singer nights.
Not my favorite spot. Itís in a weird neighborhood near the financial and theater districts. Clearly an old restaurant thatís hung around forever. Has a very old Boston (like early 1900s, not actual historic) feel. Beer selection is fins but not particularly cultivated. Food is not great. Service was lacking.
I suspect that once upon a time this place was actually one of the better beer spots by virtue of its number of taps. It has been so drastically overtaken by so many places over the years it now looks quite pathetic. Itís time this place just got retired.

A nice old fashioned restaurant with good traditional German food and a decent selection of draft beers and imported bottles. Thereís a rather cramped bar area near the door and a large raised area for dining on rickety old wooden tables and spindly chairs.

This place dates to the 1860ís which only adds to its charm. Brightlyblutnwith only a couple of tvís so itís a great place for conversation or on this night listening to the piano man. They have over 40 taps written on a chalkboard above the piano. Itís mainly local and regional craft with some German selections thrown in for good measure. They seem to do a number of beer events as well. The food was fantastic, especially the BLT Mac and Cheese. The prices were very reasonable as well. Another great find courtesy of ratebeer.
The bar is a cross between German and Irish. So much about it makes me think Irish but then there is a ton of German stuff all over. The selection is pretty big with some staples and some nice regional choices. The service was great and even gave us samples of some of the things we had never heard of before so we got an idea what they were like. Best chowder I had in the city. Prices are pretty on. We went twice while in town.
