20 beers on tap and incredible amount in bottles with definite Belgian dominance; excellent place!

Their selection is big, but not impressive: it’s just the usual Dutch an Belgian beers (lots of abbey beers). And quite pricy. The place isn’t worth it as well: not much ambiance, a bit messy/dirty, and there was a rather unpleasant smell now and then. Bar personnel seemed a bit indifferent. There are a lot of better places within walking distance.

A nice quite and long bar with a huge list of NL and Belgian beers. Light on lambic. Wifi and flights with a few interesting beers, but you will need to dig for the. Not worthy of the really high praise, but pretty solid with good service.

Update: Kafe Belgie has never been the cleanest or nicest looking bar, but the decent food and the amount of taps had always kept me interested. Now, I hardly ever visit anymore. Food is still decent, but it is usually overcrowded and the taps just dont rotate anymore. Its all usual suspects and shelf turds. New barmanagers apparently are not interested in new micros and interested barstaff has gone to other beer places. Has almost became a place to avoid. Shame. Original rate: This is not your average beer bar. Opened about 30 years ago during an earlier beer revolution, that focused on Belgian beer. Still a lot of the 200+ bottle list reminds of this history. From the start, this was the watering hole for squatters and students and this vibe is still there. Dont expect old people or men in suits, but international students and the occassinal hipster. Usually very crowded. There is a reasonable rotation in tap with more local brews, and on the bottled list across the bar. Not all the staff know what they are talking about, so you have to be a bit lucky. Food is very decent and not expensive. Visited this place numerous times and can imagine ppl giving a bad review when its crowded, but in less crowded hours, this place is outstanding.

A fairly lively bar with fairly big, but mostly unsurprising beer selection. Nice enough bar, just a little outdated nowadays with the focus on the usual Belgian beers.

This place could surprise me maybe 10 years ago .. 20 Taps with nothing really interesting ( floreffe, chimey, bush, trappe etc ) and around 200 hundreds bottles a bit better .. Few hundred meters from the Dom is really easy to find on the main canal ..

Medium-sized beer bar with some wooden interior and a few tables outside. Twenty taps, although not all were used when I visited, mostly well-known Belgian stuff, but also some Mikkeller (which in this case is also Belgian). The rather large bottle list focuses also heavily on Belgian standards, only few surprises can be found. The quality is more than decent though, and the prices are generally okay. Very friendly and talkative staff, relaxed and not too geeky atmosphere, pleasant ambiance. Wasn’t crowded at all during my visit on a Tuesday afternoon.
