86 We came here on 26.4.2019. Located not far away from the Independence Hall. Very dark beer bar with good ambiance. Great beer selection: Russian River, Lost Abbey, but also beers from local Philadelphia based breweries. Service super attentive. A really good alternative to Monk‘s Cafe. |
66 Cool long bar, with more seating around the corner to the right. Well-chosen taplist, but no flights or small pours - sips are an option if you are Danish. Friendly service. Worth a stop. |
80 Visited on 12th October 2017. Dive bar with a dining room attached (a little less divey!), decor is dark but was OK. Beer range was the star here with a solid selection of beers from across the US. Service was friendly, prices were also decent. Liked this place. Definitely worth a stop. |
86 Stopped for a brew and found a couple of gems on tap I never expected. Sat in the bar, staff were nice had nachos and beer, life is good. Had a kellerbier from a small German brewer I had been looking to find for 4 years. So far my favorite beer place in town. Great job on the draft list. Other fav was an English cask ale with a hint of diacetyl- |
82 Visited in February 2017. Dark place in a very old building. Very noisy metal music in backround even it was only noon. Beer selection on tap much better than I expected. Lots of very heavy beers. Nice surprise and darkness wasn’t big problem. Best place of downtown because I didn’t like Monk’s Cafe at all. Now I might remember wrong but they had one cask pump and rock lady behind the desk didn’t know anything about using it. It was pretty painful (and funny) to watch her using all his muscles to ruin ale. |
86 Philadelphia seems to have an abundance of small funky bars. Khyber Pass is perhaps the darkest bar I’ve ever been in. Went for lunch on a Saturday. OK beer selection. Good food menu (gumbo). Excellent service. |
90 Really enjoyed Khyber Pass! Staff was very friendly and helpful and the beer selection was really good. Will definitely come back when in town next time. |
84 Visited twice late April/early Mat 2016. Dark place with a long bar and some seating in the back room. Fast friendly service. Nice tap list. Very close to one brewery and two other beer focused bars, so easy walk in between. I liked the place and would go back if in Philly again. Kind of metal music playing, helps with me feeling welcome. |
62 The service leaves a bit much to be desired but a really strong draft list makes up for it. Nice variety between local and national stuff that’s hard to get with a generous pour and price. I’d come back but not out of my way to come by. |
86 Awesome bar in the Old City. Fortunately, I was staying only a few blocks away so this became my ’local’ for the week. Great tap selection with not only a diverse range of beers, but also fast turnaround of the tap lines. The food is Southern style and really quite tasty. Happy hour delivers good deals on drink and food too - $2 off all drafts. The staff are great - super friendly and happy to have a chat. Great bar. |
